What is Medicare part B? Do I need it?

Medicare part B covers many doctor visits and tests that may come along with them. Many medical exams and screenings are also covered through Medicare approved doctors. Typically coverage is paid through a monthly premium and can be deducted from Social Security payments.

Medicare part B is not required if you already have "Credible Coverage". If you do not have credible coverage, you may incur a penalty for not enrolling. Talk to your Medicare advisor to make sure you are covered appropriately.

What is Medicare Part A?

If you qualify for Medicare, you are automatically enrolled in Medicare part A. This covers major Hospital costs. Typically there is no monthly cost but you have a low deductible to meet.
