What you eat before and after birth isn’t just food… it’s foundation.

Here are a few foods that deeply support the body in preconception + postpartum:

✨ Bone broth → supports healing, minerals, gut health
✨ Dark leafy greens → replenish iron + support blood building
✨ Dates → energy, mineral-rich, womb support
✨ Healthy fats (avocado, olive oil, nuts) → hormone balance
✨ Warming spices (ginger, turmeric) → reduce inflammation + support digestion

Your body deserves nourishment that restores, rebuilds, and remembers.

💭 Which of these are already in your kitchen?

Hiiiii 🤎🥰✨

Happy Sunday 🌱

This feels really special to share.

I’ve been dreaming about creating a space like this for a while… something rooted in food, story, healing, and community ✨

The Healing Table: Roots & Renewal is a virtual space to gather, slow down, and reconnect through food, story, and community.

This first installation is really close to my heart. It’s about nourishment in ALL forms: what we eat, what we carry, what we share, and what we’re still learning to hold.

We’ll share a meal, explore food stories and ancestral wisdom, and create space for real, honest conversation around nourishment and care.

You’ll leave with tools, resources, and something to build from, but more than anything, I hope you leave feeling held.

This is my first offering like this, and I truly can’t wait to share this space with you all 🤎

When: May 2nd 2026 from 10-1230p
Where: via Zoom

🌱Food justice is maternal health justice.

For World Doula Week, I’m naming what we don’t talk about enough: nourishment, access, and the conditions people are surviving in every day shape reproductive health outcomes.

Doulas don’t just support birth. We support the whole person. And that includes food, healing, culture, and access.

Black maternal health cannot be separated from food justice. When communities lack access to nourishing, affordable, culturally meaningful food, it shows up in our bodies, our births, and our recovery.

This work is about more than awareness. It’s about building community capacity, advocating for access, and creating systems that actually care for people.

All bodies. All people. All paths deserve nourishment and dignity.

If you know of local food resources, mutual aid efforts, or community-based organizations doing work around food access, please share them with me. I want to spotlight and uplift this work, not just during World Doula Week but ongoing.

Be blessed be well family 🤎🌱

Celebrating World Birth Worker Week and honoring the power of birth justice, community care, advocacy, and rest. So much love to the doulas, midwives, lactation workers, reproductive support people, and birth workers who continue to hold families and communities with such intention.

It feels good to be stepping back into this work in one way or another. To every birth worker doing this sacred work, thank you. Your care matters, and so does your rest.

More reflections, more offerings, and more to come. I’ll be sharing more soon.

Be Well,

Bree ✨🤎

✨ Seasoned Skillet, Seasoned Wisdom ✨
For generations, cast iron skillets have been more than cookware — they’ve been heirlooms of nourishment, culture, and care. From Sunday greens to slow-simmered stews, these skillets carry the flavors and stories of those who came before us.

💛 Ancestral Connection
Cooking in cast iron connects us to cultural traditions that ground and heal us — especially during pregnancy and postpartum. The sizzle, the weight, the slow rhythm of cooking… it’s nourishment for body and spirit.

🍊 Health Benefits
Did you know? Cooking acidic, moist foods (like tomato stews or beans) in cast iron can increase the iron content of your meals. This gentle iron boost can help prevent or improve anemia — a common challenge in pregnancy and postpartum. Pair with vitamin C-rich foods to help your body absorb it even better.

🫶🏾 Tips for Using Cast Iron for Iron Support
• Cook moist & acidic dishes for more iron transfer
• Pair meals with vitamin C (bell peppers, citrus, berries)
• Keep your skillet seasoned & dry after use
• Rotate use if you have high iron levels

🪞 From my kitchen to yours — let this be a reminder that the ways we nourish ourselves are deeply tied to our roots. Your skillet is more than a pan… it’s a legacy.

Baby’s First Roommate: The Placenta

The placenta is more than just an organ it is a sacred, living bridge between womb and world. Formed shortly after conception, it grows alongside the baby, offering nourishment, protection, and connection every single day of pregnancy.⁣

This powerful organ acts as baby’s first provider delivering oxygen, nutrients, and immunity while filtering waste and keeping baby safe. It is also a deeply spiritual companion, often called the “Tree of Life” for its root-like shape and life-giving role.⁣

In many traditions, the placenta is honored through ritual, burial, or ceremony recognized not just for its function but for the divine work it does.

✨ May we remember: The placenta is a co-creator of life. A quiet protector. A reminder that the body knows how to care, nurture, and sustain.

Whether you’re carrying life, supporting someone who is, or simply honoring the beauty of our bodies, this is your reminder that miracles grow quietly, powerfully, and with intention.
