Reposted from A reminder that eating disorders do not have a “look” and you can not tell if someone is struggling with one simply by looking at them.

They exist at any weight

Reposted from Friendly reminder. Actually, f**k friendly. If you do this, you should feel bad. Even if you think you were “just being nice,” or offering “encouragement.” You think that because of your biased assumption that fat bodies are automatically less able and less worthy.
_
You have no idea what fat people are capable of.
_
AND: Fat people don’t have to be good at running, or anything in particular, in order to earn your respect. Fat people are human and our bodies are none of your business.

This is one of my favorite Christmas quotes. With all the focus on the holidays and expectations associated with them, it's easy to lose sight of the importance of self-care.

Reposted from : I was thinking about this the other day. When I started recovery, I thought it meant that one day I would be completely free from my eating disorder. That is never have an urge or a disordered thought ever again. I thought it meant behaviors would be a thing of the past and triggers wouldn’t bother me at all. Recovery is different for everyone and some people may have hit a point where these things are true, I don’t know.

What I do know is that, after a decade of active recovery, I can say with certainty that striving for this seemingly impossible “end point” does more harm than good. If you go into it with a time limit or an expectation that you’ll know you’ve fully recovered because your disordered voice completely goes away - it’s going to be disheartening when those things don’t happen sooner than later.

It’s about the journey. It’s about little by little, defying your disorder. Recovery is about hearing those thoughts and choosing yourself instead. If you have the urge to use a behavior that doesn’t mean you’re failing at recovery. It means you’re human and you’re dealing with your mental illness (and diet culture) as best as you can. Give yourself some grace. Recovery is a journey.

Reposted from .culture.rebel You have a relationship with your body! You can’t be mean to it for a chunk of your life & expect to turn around & love it the next day. It just doesn’t happen that way!🤷‍♀️

Plus, the idea that positive body image means loving how you look day in & day out is deeply flawed. While body positivity can certainly be a part of having a positive body image, basing it solely around how you feel about your looks makes a positive body image more about the objectification of your body. And a positive body image is really about moving away from that and knowing you are much more than just your body❤️. Check out for more.

The women who work with me in group coaching know that creating a positive body image isn’t a night and day experience. And honestly, when people expect the journey to take a short amount of time I see it as a red flag 🚩 because you simply cannot expect to shift your body image so drastically when you’ve talked to yourself like sh💩t for the majority of your life.

The women who work with me in group coaching are also TIRED of basing their body image around their body size & are ready to improve their body image for real which means acknowledging how awesome they are as a person & everything that makes them who they are OUTSIDE of their body size. They are tired of chasing external validation from society that is centered around their body size & ready to shift to internal validation where they value themselves for who they really are. And this feels empowering! 💃

If you’re tired of feeling like sh💩t about your body and having your relationship with food effed because of it, apply to my group coaching (🌟link in bio🌟) where I walk you through how to respect your body through your food choices, rebuild trust with your body which feels empowering & heal your body image for real so that how you feel about yourself is not contingent on your body size.🤸‍♀️

No, really, they don't. Or at least not as much as you think they do. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's okay and normal if you slip up. Relapses are common in recovery. Just because you engaged in ED behaviors after 'doing well' for a while does not mean you are failing. No no no my friend! You are learning, growing, becoming stronger.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I first started my recovery journey, at times it would feel like I was relapsing more than actually recovering. But you know what? I didn't give up. I kept going. I knew I was on the right path. And today I can say loud and proud that I'm 100% recovered. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Each time you choose to keep going despite all of the negative feelings and thoughts coursing through your mind that seem impossible to escape, you’re proving to your eating disorder just how resilient you are. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Keep going. You too, are on the right path. ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Reposted from 🍓Restrictive diets do your body harm - to your hormones, metabolism, digestion - and of course your mental health and your relationship with food. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
--->However, this is often overlooked because of how restriction is praised by diet culture. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🍓How do we combat this? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
--->Fueling adequately by eating regular meals and snacks, including a variety of food (aka not cutting out major food groups), and learning to listen to our bodies’ internal cues.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
