Hey team,

We are reaching out to you on behalf of Darryn Chenault to help us share the news far and wide that he needs a kidney transplant. If you or anyone you know is interested in being a living kidney donor, contact Bri Bronson at 513-585-1427. Bri is our Kidney Donor Transplant Coordinator with Christ Hospital and will guide individuals through the process.

We learned last month that Darryn needs a kidney transplant due to chronic kidney disease to continue living a long active life. A living donor transplant would provide a longer life expectancy than a deceased donor's kidney or dialysis. Plus, a living donor transplant is more common, and finding a match is quicker than waiting on a deceased donor kidney transplant.

Darryn Chenault is 50 years old and lives in West Chester, OH. Although many wouldn’t notice because of his upbeat spirit, his kidney disease has challenged his ability to live an active lifestyle. He desires nothing more than to be energetic and healthy. Pure fatigue is the hardest symptom to cope with as his body just can’t perform what his mind pleads him to do. Darryn loves to enjoy time with family and friends without the worry of being immunocompromised and worn out. This Ohio Police Officer of the Year wants to have the medical clearance to return to work and serve his community as an active Community Engagement Police Officer in the field representing the University of Cincinnati; something he hasn’t done in a while. He craves to be enthusiastic at football practices and games, passionately coaching high school football as he has for the last 32 years. His absence from mentoring inner city youth is significant to the schools he serves. With your help, we can get Darryn off the sideline and back into the game!

"I look forward to the day that I’m not tired, or unwell and can live my life to the fullest. A kidney from a living donor could provide me with more years of life than if I were to start dialysis or receive a deceased donor kidney. If you would consider being my living donor, please contact Bri Bronson at 513-585-1427. Donation costs are covered by my insurance, and the information you share will be kept confidential with the transplant team." – Darryn

Please like our post and share it on your personal page. Encourage your network to do the same to help us reach as many people as possible to hear Darryn’s story. Living kidney donors do not need to be his relatives, so let’s cast the net wide in search of a potential donor match. The sooner we find a donor the quicker we can get Darryn back to living his best life.

If you have questions or want to learn more about Darryn’s story and/or his transplant needs, contact one of his Co-Donor Champions, Dana Parker at 513-295-2855 danacparker77@gmail.com or Kennedy Chenault at 513-823-1957 kchenault14@gmail.com.

To start the donor matching process, contact Darryn’s Kidney Donor Transplant Coordinator Bri Bronson at 513-585-1427.

Thanks!

Dana & Kennedy

Hey all!! Wanted to give you a mini update on Hannah. She continues to do peritoneal dialysis (at home dialysis). She didn't receive the best news after her first month trial & will have to continue to do frequent treatments throughout the day & night. We had hoped for solely night treatments to regain some normalcy but she was thrown another curve ball. She is making the best of her situation through the help of her friends and family. We wanted to thank everyone who spent the time filling out donor paperwork & participating in further testing for potential donation. As we patiently wait for a potential donor we've decided to continue spreading the word to bring Hannah one step closer in finding a kidney.

Our cousin Ryan Harsley connected us to Bassey Eno-Idem the owner of Shred415. He graciously offered to host a workout donation class at his studio. Type one diabetes & JDRF holds a special place in his heart. I will include a link to register for the donation workout class on June 26th. There are 30 spots available which are first come first serve. If unable to participate, I will provide an additional link for the T-shirts we will be wearing during the donation class. We encourage you to join us in wearing the t-shirts on June 26th. The proceeds will help fund Hannah's potential kidney donor. Thank you all for continuing to keep Hannah in your thoughts and prayers!!!

If you are considering donating to Hannah please read these beautiful success stories & learn more about kidney donation! Janice Crago and her husband have both graciously donated kidneys and made this page for people to learn about being a live donor. Thank you all for supporting our family and helping Hannah get one step closer to finding a donor!!!

Almost 100,000 people are on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. If you’re healthy, there's a good chance you can end that wait for at least one person. Maybe more.

Dear family & friends,

I am sending this letter to everyone I know in order to share a difficult situation my family is going through. My sister Hannah Keaton was recently diagnosed with stage five kidney disease due to complications from type 1 diabetes. She is on dialysis and although her health is currently stable, she will need a transplant in the near future in order to survive. My goal in writing to you is to expand our network of people who know about this situation and perhaps reach someone who would consider the heroic gift of donation.

So far, we have had many family members/friends pursue the possibility of donating but have not found a viable donor yet. We are seeking a living donor for two reasons: (1) the wait for a deceased donor transplant is 5+ years and given the fact that she is 26 years old, she would need multiple deceased donors in her lifetime; (2) Kidneys from living donors are more robust and outlast the kidneys of deceased donors.

I am most grateful for any consideration you can give to our dilemma. If you know of another way to expand the search for a donor, please let me know. Feel free to spread the word to your family, friends, work, school congregation, or any other communities you belong to is also appreciated.

If you are interested you can contact transplant coordinator, Tricia Monson. Tricia can be reached at 513-585-1440 or at Tricia.Monson@thechristhospital.com. Of course, I would love to talk to anyone that has questions or would just like to know more about the situation. I can be reached at 513-328-7372 or Tkeaton32@gmail.com.

In closing, I know that donating a kidney is a major decision. However, after having read countless donor stories, it’s clear there are some incredible individuals who see it as an opportunity to save a life. My hope and prayer is that we find such a generous soul for my sister Hannah.

Gratefully,
Taylor Furbay
