Heart Chakra: energy center associated with emotional balance, relationships, compassion. Color: green 💚

This chakra balances right in the middle of the other 6, connecting physical sensations to our inner feelings. This chakra requires balance in how we treat, speak, and interact with one another and ourselves.

It asks that we do no harm, but take no s**t.

How do you maintain balance in your relationships?

Yoga instructor observations: people almost never take advantage of the wall, blocks, straps, props that don't exactly make the pose easier, but allow you to build strength in a safe way. WHY?! 😭 even if you only use it for a second, why not help yourself (and in turn, maybe become more open to receiving help from others)?

Yoga poses that help you tap into this energy include ones that make you tighten the belly and build the pose from the core out, building heat in the body.

Even though you may be hot and sweaty, you still practice maintaining your inhales and exhales, still keep the mind calm and clear.

The poses are meant to help you tap into those gut feelings, your intuition, and creativity.

Notice the poses require you to either bring the hips to the earth, or open them up, which can be a vulnerable feeling. Vulnerability is required to tap in! We get through any feelings of discomfort here by BREATHING.

Root Chakra: energy center associated with grounding, stability, and security. Color: red

Roots can mean many things, with these poses when I cue to "root" down, I mean to connect with the earth, to imagine actual roots connecting you the soil and nature around you.

Practicing this for even a few minutes a day can make the difference between chaos and calm.
