Join Robin and Sonya for an evening of self love and self care on Valentine’s Weekend. We will spend 30 minutes with gentle reformer stretches to tune into our bodies and breath then transition to 30 minutes of grounded yin yoga poses to connect within and restore balance.
Following the yoga session, sink into the soothing sounds of a tranquil sound immersion. Imagine lying back, supported by comfy cushions, as the melodic tones of gongs, crystal and Tibetan bowls and more wash over you. MOTM - October. Forearm plank facing back - generally considered an intermediate contemporary reformer move, you'll see this a lot at Attune. Showing three variations here: traditional heel pull, overhead arm press, pike to plank, carriage, movement. Like all planks, we’re working all postal lines against gravity. That means legs are on, core is on, glutes are on, scapular stabilization is on. Through the different variations, we challenge each stability point. Come find out why moving planks are so much fun. Standing Side Splits - In this series, we get on top of the reformer and work with it laterally. Choose your weight resistance for either an outer glut stabilizing exercise (more tension), or an inner thigh smoke out (less to no tension). Variations emphasize different elements of stability (seen here targeting the outer thighs, the trunk rotors, and the obliques in lateral flexion of the spine) but all accentuate the eccentric control of closing the carriage with neutral pelvic stability. These exercises are fun ways to bring your practice upright. Look for this series all September in class. See you then!

MOTM - Eve’s Lunge. A juicy finish to any good class, the reformer takes a regular lunge and makes it extra special. Bring your abdominal connection into hip extension with added spinal extension. Add options of full split forward fold, or the best psoas stretch you’ve ever had when adding a side bend. Eve’s lunge clears the low back of tension by lengthening the front of your hip, and reverses all of that abdominal flexion with the most incredible upper thoracic opening. Come dive in all August celebrating this hip opening. See you in class!

July MOTM

Short box roll back series - in this video I’m using rollback ‘c curve’, and ‘hinge flat back’ variations. Increasing strength and range of motion allows for articulation between these two spinal shapes. Both important and necessary in any locomotive movement. Short box series focus on abdominal
articulated vertebral movement.
These movements are precursors to the more advanced repertoire with loaded extension and flexion seen in snake and twist.

MOTM - Feet in Straps series
One of the sweetest endings there is to a great class. The loops on your feet draw the legs into inversion, lengthening the hamstrings. Focus is placed on the stability of the pelvis, and further up the spine to maintain a neutral position under tension. Pressing your feet into the loops, the lengthened hamstrings are recruited, calling on the stabilizers, improving tone while increasing mobility. Watch the video for the following variations:
1. Parallel straight leg press
2. Frog
3. Leg circles in both directions
4. Internal rotation straight leg press
5. Extended (swimming) frog
