We love a good stretch sesh!
But it’s not actually solving your issue is it?

You know it’s good for you but the thing is… stretching is beneficial to help PREVENT injuries issues.
Once you have an issue, particularly a pulled muscle, you do NOT want to stretch something that just got pulled.

It feels good in the moment because that tightness you feel is protection. It’s your body trying to heal the tissue back together.
Stretching that can make it worse, hard to heal, and PROLONGS the process.

The truth that no one wants to hear is…
IT TAKES WORK.

You can work your way up to it
— it’s called progressive loading.
But when you do it should be somewhat challenging.

Karissa has her doctorate in physical therapy and lots of experience helping athletes rehab & recover for better movement and performance!

Karissa is from Dayton but now lives in Colorado where she hikes with her dogs, does CrossFit and weightlifting. (Drs. Jess & Karissa did CrossFit together a few years ago!)

Karissa is here to help our patients and communities get effective coaching & exercise programming to guide you & achieve your movement/performance goals!

We’ve had quite a few people come to us with shoulder tightness and pain.

In addition to rolling and releasing with a ball… add this.

I challenge all of you to try more of this. Send or tag us in your videos!!

Bamboo bar work is great for stability and maintenance the strength and function of those small important muscles.

You can do a lot with it too!
-single / double arm
-weights and bands
-pressing, squatting, lunging
-and more!

Don’t have a bamboo bar… try a pvc pipe or training bar.

Time to work the back! Life is very forward.. so don’t forget to strengthen those back and shoulder blade muscles. Open up that chest and stop spending so much time on that lacrosse ball.
