Hi, Cassy (owner) here. I realized today as I was engaging in local conversations around supporting small businesses that are speaking out against ICE, that as a business owner I haven’t said a word about what’s taking place in America right now. I’m hardly on this account, quite honestly due to a lack of expendable energy currently, but it feels important right now to ensure that our community and followers know where we stand.

If you are a client or friend of mine, you already know exactly where I stand on these things. So this is more for the people seeking community support or curious if our practice is a safe place for them.

As therapists, we strongly believe that people can exist in relationship with others that hold different perspectives— in fact, we believe it is in that space where growth can happen, especially if we can enter those spaces with curiosity.

Therapy itself requires curiosity, complexity, and room to grow. It does not require neutrality in the face of harm. This is why therapy is political.

Our practice is grounded in the belief that all people deserve dignity and compassion. That includes our support for:

-Abolishing ICE
-Black Lives Matter
-Trans people’s right to exist with dignity AND safety
-No human being illegal on stolen land
-Freedom, safety, and self-determination for Palestinian people

We serve clients that are being significantly impacted by the current administrations efforts dehumanize individuals and strip them of their rights and dignity to live freely. We stand with our clients and will fight for them and with them until oppressive systems have been dismantled and safety is restored.

We have been hearing rumblings that ICE is going to increase its efforts in Cincinnati and other Ohio cities and towns. In the coming days, I will share some resources for people looking to engage in community support and for those seeking community support. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to slide into our DMs with any questions.

We are burdened and angry about the current administrations attempt to erase and ignore the black persons experience and history in our Nation. Their experience is one of immense pain, incredible bravery, unbreakable community, boundless mobilization, and spirits that won’t be broken. The attempt to erase or ignore black persons history is horrific and dangerous and we will not stand for it.

At Woven, we will continue to celebrate black people’s excellence and their history this month and every month. We must not forget, we must learn from our history, we must pave a better path forward. To the black people in our community, we see you—your history, your incredible impact on on our nation (& world), your artistry and culture that permeates what the US is— and we will keep fighting for you.

If you know me, you know I love anything miniature. Last year for my birthday, my husband got me this collection of TINY s*x toys/items. I can finally take them out of their miniature caboodle and display them in my office. 🎉🥳

Have you ever wondered what’s on your therapist’s bookshelf? I think part of being a good therapist is staying up-to-date on new research, new resources and having done due diligence on reading the resources we are then giving to clients.

This is literally a never-ending task that is impossible to keep up with. But, I am a book collector. I want them all. I keep filling my bookshelf with books that I *want* to read in hopes that the information will somehow transfer from my bookshelf, right into my brain.
