⚡️ Your nervous system is the main regulator of every single system, every single organ, and every single cell in your entire body. ⚡️

And healing your nervous system is absolutely KEY for clearing your skin. 🌟🌟🌟

Here's why 👉

Your nervous system communicates with two main systems that play a role in acne:

⚡️your endocrine (hormonal) system
⚡️your immune systemㅤ

This means that your nervous system directly impacts the production of hormones involved in acne (like estrogen, androgens, cortisol, and insulin) as well as how your body manages inflammation and its interactions with your microbiome (including that infamous P. acnes that's associated with acne).ㅤ

It's super important to note that your nervous system is the physical bridge between your mind and your body, which is why the thoughts you think and the emotions you feel have a significant impact on your health...including the health of your skin.ㅤ

A truly holistic approach to healing acne looks at the mind AND the body...and sees your nervous system as the crucial link between the two. 💗ㅤ

To heal your nervous system, you have to:

✨ improve your stress response and the function of your parasympathetic ("rest-and-digest") nervous system

✨ address traumas and stuck emotional patterns

✨ bring awareness to the thoughts you think, improve your self-talk, and change your beliefs about yourself and your ability to healㅤ

When you tap into your nervous system, this positively affects every function of your body. It improves your digestion and gut health, your immune function, your hormone production, your metabolism, your blood sugar...everything that plays a role in healthy skin.

If you've got acne or you're just looking to improve the health of your skin, these foods are some of my favorites! 🥑🍠🧈

🌱 SPROUTS:
Sprouts are some of the most nutrient-dense foods and full of vitamins and minerals you need for healthy skin. Broccoli sprouts especially are loaded with sulfur compounds that help support optimal liver function and hormone metabolism.

🧈 GHEE:
Ghee is a healthy fat that's full of fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin A, D, E, and K--all vitamins you need for healthy skin and hormones. It also contains butyrate, a fatty acid that plays a big role in digestive health and may be helpful for acne that's associated with constipation, loose stools, or colon dysfunction (acne is typically on the outer chin).

🍅 BEETS (yes, the emoji is a tomato...)
Beets contain fiber and skin-loving vitamins like vitamin C. Beets also contain nitrates that stimulate blood flow to the skin. Small amounts of beet juice can promote healthy skin, but avoid large amounts of beet juice, as that can throw off your blood sugar. It's best to eat them whole for the fiber when possible.

🌰 CHIA SEEDS
Chia seeds are full of fiber, fat, and protein to keep your blood sugar levels stable. They make an easy addition to snacks and salads, and you can even make chia seed pudding for a simple yet satiating breakfast.

🥑 AVOCADO
Fats form the backbone of your hormones and are an essential component of your cell membranes, including your skin cells. Fats also make up your skin's lipid barrier, so it's important to make sure you're getting enough high-quality fats in your diet.

🍠 SWEET POTATOES
Full of fiber and nutrients like vitamin A, sweet potatoes are a win for your skin!

Do you ever find yourself feeling tense and breathing just from your upper chest?⠀
⠀⠀
Shallow breathing is often due to tension and being unaware of the inner state of the body, yet it promotes a continual state of stress and anxiety. By practicing deep breathing (by fully engaging your diaphragm by breathing into your abdomen), you can unwind your body's habitual patterns of tense and restricted breathing.⠀
⠀⠀
Key benefits of deep, mindful breathing:⠀
✅ Promotes proper oxygenation of your body’s tissues, improving the health of your organs, including your heart and lungs⠀
✅ Reduces stress and an overactive sympathetic nervous system, promoting a sense of calm⠀
✅ Promotes clarity and mental focus⠀
✅ Reduces snoring and symptoms associated with sleep apnea⠀
⠀⠀
Start by breathing in through your nose instead of your mouth. Breathe in deeply, allowing your belly to expand. Be aware of how your body feels and any areas of tension and restriction. Allow these places to relax as you breathe.⠀
⠀⠀
Check in with yourself throughout the day to make sure that you’re breathing through your nose rather than your mouth, and into your belly instead of your upper chest. Consider setting aside a few minutes every day to practice deep, mindful breathing in a relaxed setting, preferably outside in fresh air. 🌤⠀

⚡️Your nervous system is the command center of your entire body.⚡️
It regulates every organ, every system, and every cell — including those that directly affect the health of your skin.

So if you’re struggling with acne or other chronic skin concerns, addressing your nervous system is a crucial (and often overlooked) step in true healing. 🌿✨

Here’s why:

Your nervous system directly communicates with two major acne-related systems:
• Your endocrine system (hormones like cortisol, insulin, and androgens)
• Your immune system (inflammation, microbiome balance, and skin barrier function)

When your nervous system is dysregulated — due to chronic stress, trauma, or emotional patterns — it can drive:
• Hormonal imbalances
• Inflammatory responses
• Digestive dysfunction
• Microbiome disruption (including P. acnes overgrowth)

💡 Your nervous system is the bridge between your mind and body. That’s why your thoughts, emotions, and beliefs can directly impact your skin health — just like your gut or hormones do.

A truly holistic approach to clearing acne must include:
✨ Supporting the parasympathetic nervous system ("rest and digest")
✨ Addressing unresolved stress and trauma
✨ Rewriting thought patterns and self-talk
✨ Healing the body and the mind

Because when you heal your nervous system, you improve digestion, hormones, blood sugar, metabolism, inflammation — all of which contribute to radiant, healthy skin.

Are you breathing fully — or just getting by? 🌬️

Many of us go through the day breathing shallowly, from the upper chest, without even realizing it. This type of restricted breathing is often a response to tension, stress, or disconnection from the body — and it can keep the nervous system stuck in a state of low-grade anxiety.

By practicing deep, diaphragmatic breathing (breathing into your abdomen, not just your chest), you can help retrain your body and mind to move out of “fight or flight” and into a calmer, more grounded state.

Benefits of deep, mindful breathing:
✅ Improves oxygenation of tissues — supporting your heart, lungs, and brain
✅ Activates the parasympathetic nervous system — promoting relaxation
✅ Enhances clarity, mental focus, and emotional regulation
✅ May reduce snoring and symptoms of mild sleep apnea

🌀 Try this:
– Inhale slowly through your nose, allowing your belly to gently rise
– Exhale fully and slowly
– Notice areas of tension — and consciously relax them
– Practice for just a few minutes a day, ideally outdoors in fresh air

Your breath is one of the most powerful tools for healing — and it’s always with you.
