Cincinnati Riverfront Volksmarch - Public Page We start and end at the Moerlein Lager House. We have new 5K routes through downtown so now you can do a new route or add them together and do a 10K. Yippie!!!

We are a group that engages the German-American community, international community and Cincinnati area residents with a monthly, non-competitive 5k & 10k walk throughout the Riverfront park area. Get out and walk...
The Riverfront Volksmarch group is proud to announce Volksmarch events on select first Saturdays (We will be doing a March, August, Oct, and December) with registration between 10AM-12PM. This will be a non-competitive Volksmarch walk of 5K through the gorgeous Cincinnati Riverfront Park System from Smale to Friendship Park along the Ohio River. We start and end at the Moerlein Lager House Restaurant and Brewery. Registration is between 10AM and Noon in the Lager House. Costs to register is $3. See discussion comments on event page for more details. Kids are free. You start your Volksmarch walk at your leisure so there is no starting gun. For all participants that complete the Volksmarch (3.1 miles) you will receive a raffle ticket to win prizes. We have three drawings at noon, 12:30 and 1PM. Each Volksmarch will have a party at the end that starts at 11AM and Ends at 1PM. This is a non-sanctioned AVA event. We hope to achieve AVA status in the coming year. Parking options: Right below the Moerlein Lager House, see below game day rates may apply. Also, The public landing down Mehring Way right across from Heritage Bank Arena very close to the Moerlein Lager House is only $5. Game day parking below the Moerlein Lager House will clearly be posted with pricing. Reds game day pricing is $20. Non-game day pricing is at normal rates. Parking and directions to the Moerlein Lager House can be obtained through their website at www.moerleinlagerhouse.com. Food and beverage is available onsite at the Moerlein Lager House. While we are based out of the Moerlein Lager house for our monthly Volksmarch we are a separate group of volunteers from the Moerlein Lager house. We love the location, the food and the beer! Check out their Saturday Brunch at their website. RAFFLE Anyone!!! Every participant gets a raffle ticket and we will draw at Noon, 12:30 and 1PM. Prizes will come from the Moerlein store. The entry fee collected is used to help start up costs and fund our American and International Volksmarch Association memberships. Our goal is to achieve those memberships to be an officially sanctioned event. Funds collected past what we need to operate will be donated to a monthly charity or non-profit chosen by our Volksmarch Group.

Topic: Should Oktoberfest Start Charging Admission?
Back in 1982, Willie walked into Oktoberfest for the first time… Beer was cheap, the tents were wild, and the only “admission fee” was finding a seat.
Fast‑forward to today — beer is pushing €16 a liter, and now there’s talk of charging people just to walk onto the festival grounds.
Brewers say beer can’t fund the whole festival anymore. Munich’s mayor says “NEIN — it’s a folk festival, not an amusement park.” Landlords say admission won’t lower beer prices anyway. And the crowds? Well… they’re not getting any smaller.
So Mike and Willie sat down to break it all down on the latest episode of Those German Guys:

Out here in the snow‑covered Biergarten this evening, cheering on our Muster Club medal winners. Huge congratulations to everyone who competed and took home hardware—you brought the energy, the strength, and the Gemütlichkeit.

Our hearts are with the two National Guard Soldiers who were tragically shot in Washington, D.C., and with their families during this painful time.
As someone who has worn the uniform, this loss hits especially hard. Those German Guys stand in prayer and gratitude for their service and sacrifice. May their loved ones find strength, and may we as a community never forget the courage of those who protect us.
