Every flower placed here carries meaning — love remembered, grief expressed, hope proclaimed. They bloom brightly for a season, then fade… yet their beauty points to something eternal.

“Though the grass withers and the flower wilts, the word of our God stands forever.” — Isaiah 40:8

At Gate of Heaven, these flowers stand as witnesses. They remind us that while life on earth is fragile and passing, God’s promise of eternal life is unchanging.

If you stand by the pond at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on a sunny day, you might catch a beautiful surprise — a rainbow forming in the fountain mist. 🌈

It’s a simple moment, but it carries a powerful reminder. Long ago, after the flood, God placed a rainbow in the sky as a promise:
“I have set my bow in the clouds, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.” – Genesis 9:13

Just as God kept His promise then, He keeps His promises now.
The rainbow whispers hope. It reminds us that after every storm, His love endures.

May this rainbow bring peace to your heart today. 💛

At Gate of Heaven, we are committed to honoring the American workers of our community — men and women whose labor shaped families, strengthened neighborhoods, and built a better tomorrow.

This Labor Day, we pause to remember Firefighter Terry Trost, a man whose life was defined by courage and service. Terry devoted himself to protecting others, and his legacy stands as a reminder of the dignity and sacrifice found in a life of hard work.

As we honor Terry, we also honor every dedicated worker laid to rest here at Gate of Heaven. From public servants to parents, from tradespeople to teachers, their work lives on in the lives they touched and the communities they strengthened.

Labor Day calls us to gratitude — for Terry, and for all who labored faithfully, leaving behind not only their work, but their love.

🇺🇸 Honoring Staff Sgt. Matt Maupin 🇺🇸
Gate of Heaven Cemetery is honored to be the final resting place of Staff Sgt. Matt Maupin, whose courage and sacrifice for our country will never be forgotten.

Today, we pause to honor not only Matt’s memory but the service and sacrifice of all military personnel — past and present. May their dedication inspire us to live with faith, strength, and love.

Keith “Matt” Maupin holds a uniquely solemn place in American history as the first U.S. soldier declared missing in action during the Iraq War, whose story captured the nation’s attention. His father’s dedicated campaign for answers and remembrance transformed Matt into a lasting symbol of sacrifice and hope, inspiring memorials, scholarships, and community observances in his honor.

Join Us in Prayer on the Feast of the Assumption

“Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen…” – Revelation 11:19

Today we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, when Our Lady was taken body and soul into heavenly glory. Her life of perfect obedience and deep sorrow is now crowned with joy, offering us a glimpse of the glory that awaits in God’s plan.
Today, we pause in the presence of Our Lady of Sorrows, who stood faithfully at the foot of the Cross, sharing in her Son’s suffering with unwavering love.
Her example reminds us that in every sorrow, we are never alone—Mary walks with us, leading us closer to Christ.
We invite you to pray with us:
“O Mother of Sorrows, you remained steadfast as your Son gave His life for our salvation. Intercede for all who mourn and for the souls of the faithful departed, that they may share in the glory of the resurrection. Grant us hope, peace, and strength as we trust in God’s promise of eternal life. Amen.”
May this sacred space at Gate of Heaven Cemetery offer consolation and hope for all who visit.

For the beauty of the earth,
for the glory of the skies,
for the love which from our birth
over and around us lies.
Christ, our Lord, to you we raise
this, our hymn of grateful praise.
For the wonder of each hour
of the day and of the night,
hill and vale and tree and flower,
sun and moon and stars of light,
Christ, our Lord, to you we raise
this, our hymn of grateful praise.
For the joy of human love,
brother, sister, parent, child,
friends on earth, and friends above,
for all gentle thoughts and mild,
Christ, our Lord, to you we raise
this, our hymn of grateful praise.
For yourself, best gift divine,
to the world so freely given,
agent of God's grand design:
peace on earth and joy in heaven.
Christ, our Lord, to you we raise
this, our hymn of grateful praise.

GodTube.com - History of the song:
"For the Beauty of the Earth.", written by Folliot Pierpoint in 1864, praises the beautiful world that we inhabit and the many things he loved. He mentions many aspects of existence for which he is grateful, including the earth and skies, tree and flower, human love and "best gift divine." This joyous hymn is a great reminder of all the beauty that surrounds us and to not take this for granted.
The Story Behind For the Beauty of the Earth
The initial poem was published in eight, four-line stanzas under the title, “The Sacrifice of Praise.” British hymnologist J. R. Watson proposes, “It is said to have been inspired by the view of Folliot Pierpoint's native city of Bath on a spring day.” The original refrain, “Christ, our God, to thee we raise/This our sacrifice of praise,” reflects the theology of the Lord’s Supper as a sharing in Christ’s sacrifice. “For the beauty of the earth” appeared in the final “Miscellaneous Hymns” section of Lyra Eucharistic. Changes made to the hymn and accepted by the author made it suitable for a larger scope of liturgical opportunities."
