We are so thankful to Mary Schmaltz for all of her lifesaving donations! Not only does she change lives in the classroom as a teacher, but she also saves lives as a dedicated blood donor. So far, Mary has helped save a whopping 8,097 lives, and we are so proud to call her a Hoxworth Hero.

We are beyond grateful for our incredible platelet donors who showed up, rolled up their sleeves, and helped make this event so special. Platelet donations are always in high demand, and we truly can’t express our appreciation enough for the lifesaving impact these donors make for patients every single day.

Friday Spotlight: Honoring Kaiden’s Legacy 💛

Four-year-old Kaiden Isaack faced more in his brief life than many will in a lifetime — born with complex congenital heart disease and later battling cancer, he spent countless days in hospitals surrounded by love. Thanks to the generosity of Hoxworth blood donors, Kaiden received the red cells and platelets that helped him live longer, feel stronger, and experience meaningful moments with his family.

Though Kaiden is no longer with us, his spirit continues to inspire. His family now honors him through a memorial blood drive — a beautiful way to give hope and life to others just like he once was. Every donation keeps his legacy alive.
