Check in with TriHealth Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Doug Adams as he talks about why lung cancer screenings, which he calls "mammography of the lungs," can make such a huge difference in early detection and treatment efficacy: s.trihealth.com/lVGLLE

Following the loss of her first child after only a few hours, TriHealth patient Paige Fath received the difficult news that she was once again diagnosed with PPROM (Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes) during her second pregnancy and once again had to deliver early, this time at 31 weeks.

After spending his first 55 days in TriHealth’s Good Samaritan Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Paige's son is now a thriving two-year-old.

“The nurses at Good Samaritan were extremely kind and as comforting as possible during such a traumatic event,” Paige said of that first experience. Because of this, she said she had “No hesitation in deciding to return to Good Sam for his birth as well, and I'm forever grateful for that.” Read her full story here: s.trihealth.com/659Y15

The winner of our Annual Good Catch award is Grace Fox! Grace was selected for the Annual Good Catch Award due to her attention to detail while providing care for her patient.

The patient was placed on Novasource tube feedings causing her blood sugars to be elevated. The Dietitian changed the patient’s tube feedings to Diabetisource. Grace checked the ingredients of the Diabetisource before hanging and noticed fish oil was in it which the patient had an allergy to causing anaphylaxis. Grace notified the Physician, and the patient remained on the Novasource tube feedings.

Due to Grace Speaking up for Safety and using the Safety and Reliability Tools of Thinking with a Questioning Attitude by Validating and Verifying the contents of the tube feeds she prevented potential harm to the patient. Congratulations, Grace! 💙

04/07/2025

At a recent Good Samaritan Safety Huddle, the Accreditation Team was honored for their countless hours and tireless work put towards their commitment to ensuring the highest standard of care. They collaborate with every department across the system, keeping us focused on doing what is right every day and with every encounter. Their minds are like a steel trap- it seems impossible that they can know, track, and follow-up on the vast number of requirements and rules. The Accreditation team reflects and demonstrates the commitment we make every day to the health and safety of our community (and also to keeping our doors open). It is through the guidance, due diligence, and heroic efforts of this team that we have achieved the milestone of completing another Triennial Joint Commission Survey, and they will be sure we are prepared for the next.

Each team member in the department received a $10 gift card valid at Nurture Gift Shop and Nourish Coffee Shop in celebration of their hard work.

Each month, the Good Samaritan Hospital Guild honors a Good Samaritan team or department. The Guild is associated with Good Samaritan Foundation and funds special projects and programs at the hospital to benefit patients, visitors, and all who work at Good Sam.

Congratulations to the Accreditation Team!
