🌟 Mission Monday: Driven by Generosity 🌟

We were thrilled to welcome the incredible team from St. Susanna Parish as they stopped by to deliver the proceeds from this year’s Classic Car Show—their biggest donation yet! 🙌

This event has become a beloved annual tradition, and over the past 9 years, it has now raised more than $50,000 in support of our mission to serve individuals with developmental disabilities.

We’re deeply grateful for this generous community, for the tireless work of the Knights of Columbus, and for everyone who came out to show their support. Partnerships like this one keep our mission moving forward. 💙

Orientation Week is full (and fulfilling)—from day one meet & greets and learning our rich history, to hearing from organizational leaders and diving into hands-on skills training. Whether you’re a seasoned nurse or a brand new DSP, there’s something meaningful for everyone.

A special shoutout to our new Dietary Manager, Rob — we’re so excited to have you on board!

It’s a lot to take in, but we’re always grateful to grow our team with compassionate, mission-driven people who are ready to make a difference.

The Power of a Break 🤝

At St. Joe's, our Harold C. Schott Respite Center provides families with a safe, supportive space for their loved one to stay—whether it’s for 2 days or 2 weeks.

Our 24/7 nurses and DSPs ensure guests receive personalized care, all in a home-like setting that feels more like a highly-equipped hotel than a facility.

Whether families need time to travel, recharge, or simply run errands, we're here to help them pause, breathe, and come back stronger!

Making Waves Together 🌊🌞

Last week, our therapy pool was full of laughter & splashes! Residents, DSPs, and therapists came together for a refreshing swim session that was equal parts fun and therapeutic. Swimming brings so many benefits—movement, confidence, and most of all, smiles.

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do—supporting each individual in living a full, joy-filled life.

Wrapping Up Teen Summer Camp #2! 🌭☀️

We closed out our second Teen Summer Camp session last Friday with an awesome outdoor cookout—complete with sunshine, good food, and great company!

Each of our two-week summer camps is designed for teens with developmental disabilities from across the community—not just those who live at St. Joe’s. It’s been incredible to see friendships form, confidence grow, and memories made.

Huge thanks once again to the amazing students from Sycamore High School who volunteered their time and hearts to help run camp—you help make it all possible.

We’re already getting ready for Teen Summer Camp #3 and can’t wait to do it all again! 💙

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on one of the brightest at Saint Joe’s — Rachel Powell, our amazing Director of Executive & Board Operations. With her can-do/will-do attitude, Rachel is the go-to person for just about everyone. Whether it's problem-solving, pitching in, or lifting others up, Rachel leads with positivity and purpose.

When we asked why she chooses to work at Saint Joe’s, she shared:

This summer, our Day Program and Summer Camp participants have been on the move — visiting local bookstores, the library, Liberty Center for live music, and even the art museum! These experiences aren't just fun (though they are!) — they’re opportunities for learning, connection, and community engagement.

Our Chief Development Officer, Lucienne, is carrying that message into the week ahead—using it as inspiration to notice and honor the small moments that bring joy, connection, and a sense of belonging.
