Meet Mary K. Elkins – Our New Clinical Coordinator in Radiologic Technology!

We’re thrilled to welcome Mary Elkins, MBA, R.T. (R) to The Christ College as the new Clinical Coordinator for our Rad Tech Program!

Mary brings extensive experience, previously serving as Director and Department Chair of the Radiologic Technology Program at Triton College in River Grove, Illinois.

What drew her to TCC?
💬 “I was exploring adjunct opportunities, and during my interview, the friendliness of the Assistant Dean and Program Director really stood out.”

Now at TCC, she’s excited to help our Rad Tech Program Chair, Steven Faulkner, work toward JRCERT accreditation and share her wealth of knowledge with students.

In Professor Pam Wright’s NUR 342 (Mental Health) class, our nursing students explored emotions through a unique and creative group activity — drawing their feelings and sharing them with one another.

From colorful expressions to thoughtful conversations, this exercise sparked insight, empathy, and connection. So much creativity in the room as future nurses learned to better understand the emotional experiences of themselves and others. 🖍️❤️

Student of the Week Spotlight: Jai Kinley

Join us in celebrating Jai Kinley, our Student of the Week, recognized for her exceptional clinical performance in the Radiography Program!

🏆 Nominated by Program Director Steven Faulkner, Jai impressed not only her instructors—but also two patients, who praised her in their Press Ganey surveys. One patient wrote:
👉 “Jai did an excellent job of helping me with my x-rays, treating me with respect and dignity… She should be rewarded for her excellent performance and care.” 🌟

To honor her achievement, TCC leadership surprised Jai in class with a certificate, a Student of the Week t-shirt, and a $500 scholarship!

A passionate future radiologic technologist, Jai shared:

Every Thursday, under the guidance of Prof. Sheri Johnson-Strodes, our NUR 463 nursing students bring their compassion and creativity to Bayley Place Senior Day Center in Delhi as part of their community clinical experience.

Each week, students design meaningful ways to engage with members—and this week, they're focusing on 1:1 interactions to promote wellness, connection, and joy. Their self-care activity includes nail painting for the women and relaxing hand massages for the men, creating moments of dignity, kindness, and human connection.

Thanks to the generosity of our Christ College community, students are equipped with donated supplies to make this day extra special. These small gestures are making a big impact. 💖
