Both pictures taken today. Had to get some new shirts for the honeymoon. The one on the left used to fit me, now it looks like a tablecloth. Next thursday I marry my best friend!

This just in: I'm in a size 38 jeans! Down from size 50.

Here I am, a year post-op. So glad that I made this decision. You might not notice a dramatic difference in the middle and bottom pictures, but that's two or three pant sizes and two shirt sizes.

Today is the one year anniversary of my weight loss surgery (gastric bypass). Zero regrets. Zero complications. One of the best decisions if my life.

I celebrated by buying some pants that actually fit! I'm about 10lb away from coming back for those size 36, but was curious if I could squeeze into them. They did fit, but weren't as comfortable as the 38, which I'm overjoyed to be in anything beginning with a 3!

If you know anyone struggling with weight, it would be worth their time to visit a bariatric specialist. I visited many regular doctors, trainers, tried all of the diets, and exercised like a beast....for years. I had my blood checked, my hormones checked, even the cortisol levels in my saliva...

Looking at my food and exercise logs, no regular could explain to me why I couldn't lose weight and keep it off.

A bariatric doctor (Dr Tymitz @ Good Samaritan in Cincinnati), was the first person who both understood and had answers for me.

Thanks to the team at Good Samaritan Hospital Bariatric Surgery Support Group I've gotten much of my life back.

Also a big thanks to my friends, Dave and Kelly, who both had surgery before me, and who answered so many of my questions.

Of course, I couldn't have done this without the support of my awesome family, who supported me (sometimes literally) though the process, and motivated me along the way.

Again, folks, life is short. There will never a good time to make major changes, so do it now. Today. Seriously commit.

Tonight I went clothes shopping and not only did I save $7 on a shirt (because it wasn't big and tall), but I put on a pair of 40 pants....AND THEY WERE TOO BIG!

Last year: 3XLT shirt with a 19in neck
Today: XL shirt with a 17 1/2 in neck

Last year: Size 50 pants
Today: Size 38

What kind of workout did you do today? Back to the boxing gym! First time in years, and I'm WIPED OUT!

Not only did I finish the workout, I put in an extra (ugly) round on the pads at the end. The trainer said I worked a lot harder than he expected when he saw my sloppy ass walk in. I guess that counts as a success?

I'm sure that tomorrow I'll be sore, but t right now I feel awesome! Hopefully i will be back in here later this week.
