❄️ Snow Emergency Levels in Ohio
🌨️ Level 1 — Caution (Hazardous Road Conditions)
What it means: Roadways are hazardous due to blowing and drifting snow, and they may be icy.
Travel advice:
Drivers should use caution and adjust their speed to the conditions. Travel is not prohibited, but everyone should be alert and careful.
Think of Level 1 as a warning that winter weather is making travel less safe.
❄️ Level 2 — Necessary Travel Only
What it means: Road conditions continue to worsen; roads are hazardous and very icy, with wind-blown snow reducing visibility.
Travel advice:
You can travel only when necessary.
Officials often recommend contacting your employer to determine whether you should return to work.
🚗 During Level 2, everyday commuting isn’t recommended — travel should be limited to essential trips.
🚫 Level 3 — Emergency (Roads Closed)
What it means: All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel because conditions are extremely hazardous.
Travel advice:
Do not travel unless there is an absolute emergency.
Driving on roads for non-essential reasons can result in citations or arrest in some jurisdictions.
This level is reserved for severe winter storms where visibility, ice, drifting snow, or other conditions make travel extremely dangerous.
