Over 53 million Americans are unpaid family caregivers.

Half of them are caring for a loved one over 60 years d while ALSO caring for children.

These caregivers often face significant burdens, with more than 30% reporting high emotional stress, and as $7,000 or more in annual out of pocket costs.

Here at Closing the Health Gap we want to give you not only a community to talk to but resources to help you care for YOURSELF.

If you know a caregiver or are one, give us a call at (513) 585-9879 and visit our webpage https://closingthehealthgap.org/caregiver/ to sign up for our next session.

Public health IS minority health.

Public healths association to minority health is explained as eliminating health disparities among minorities as essential to achieving equality.

As National Public Health Week wraps up we recognize the contributions of minority public health professionals that continue to highlight crucial issues affecting community health, equity, and safety.

👩🏾‍⚕️We caught up with Dr. White at and her public health class to see what things WE as a community can do to advocate, educate and empower ourselves to learn how to live healthier lives.

🗺️Public health is EVERYWHERE. You can find some way to take better care of your health and others, anywhere you go.

Black women in the U.S. are THREE TIMES MORE LIKELY to die from pregnancy related issues than any other race.

Black Maternal Health Week is a time to talk and recognize the maternal health crisis and disparities that affects our Black and Brown communities.

These disparities are driven by racism, unequal access to care and gaps within our health systems.

How do we change that?

Advancing maternal equity starts with:

👂 Listening to Black mothers
🤝 Supporting community resources
🗣️ Speaking up for yourself and loved ones

We can't do this work alone.

There are resources in our communities.

Dr. Odayme Quesada .odaymequesada works with The Christ Hospital Women’s Heart Center. She knows first hand what women must do to take care of their health. Being part of the minority community, factors affect us differently and educating yourself on HOW is the first step.
