The study concludes that both training heavier with lower reps, or lighter with higher reps improved strength endurance. The authors discussed in real world situations, you don't have to choose between the two, but rather you could do both in a training session. Maybe heavy lower reps for compound movements and lighter higher reps for accessory lifts, or heavy training one day and lighter the next.
“Strength endurance” is a surprisingly nuanced concept, and it’s not clear-cut that high-rep training is always best.
