It’s that time of year! Sickness is everywhere, and we want to explain why it is so important to postpone your pellet insertion appointment if you are feeling sick.
Here is the breakdown:
Illness = inflammation = unpredictable hormone response
When you’re sick (infection, fever, even a bad cold), your body is in stress mode. Inflammation and stress hormones (like cortisol) can:
• Change how hormones are absorbed
• Alter how your receptors respond to estrogen/testosterone
• Make side effects more likely
Higher risk of complications
Being sick can slightly increase the risk of:
• Infection at the insertion site
• Poor wound healing
• More swelling, bruising, or prolonged soreness
• Pellet extrusion
Even a mild illness can impair immune response just enough to matter.
Bottom line..
Our providers recommend waiting until you’re fully recovered because:
• Your body handles hormones more predictably
• Dosing is more accurate
• Risks are lower
We are always happy to try and accommodate you if you need to reschedule!
