Today we're thrilled to celebrate a truly special milestone, Becky Rucker's 5-year anniversary with us at TruCare! Becky joined us as a Program Manager in 2021 in our Residential Department and from day one she's brought a deep commitment to the individuals we serve. Over the years, her leadership skills, problem-solving, and heart have only grown.

Now, as a Senior Program Manager on our Residential team, Becky oversees homes and supports individuals across Clermont County with the same dedication and steady presence she's always brought. She's a trusted guide for our DSPs and a strong advocate for the people we serve.

We're incredibly lucky to have Becky on our team. Thank you Becky for five amazing years and here's to watching you continue to uplift and make TruCare better.

Spotlight on innovators that transformed accessibility!

Rufus J. Weaver, a Navy Veteran of WWII, brought his ingenuity to Pfizer, where he developed on of the earliest stair-climbing wheelchairs. His work expanded mobility long before accessibility standards existed, proving that innovation can open doors!

Bessie Blount Griffin, a dedicated nurse serving veterans after WWII, witnessed firsthand the challenges amputees faces while relearning daily tasks. Her compassion and determination led her to create the first electronic feeding device, restoring dignity and autonomy to countless individuals.

Mary Beatrice Kenner, a lifelong inventor from a family of creators, held multiple impressive patents designed to make everyday life easier. Among them was one of the first surface tray and soft-pocket systems that attach to wheelchairs and walkers! Simple, brilliant, and still used today to support independence and convenience!

James West, whose childhood curiosity bloomed into a groundbreaking career at Bell Labs, co-invented the foil electret microphone. Today, this tech is used in 90% of modern microphones from recording equipment and phones, to baby monitors and hearing aids! Making communication more accessible for people around the world.

These innovators didn't just create devices, they created possibilities. Their legacies remind us that accessibility is built by visionaries who imagine a world for all to thrive. Here's to all Black creators, caregivers, and advocates who continue to shape a more inclusive future!

It's ! We're celebrating the incredible caregivers who make independence and dignity possible, especially our own TruCare Direct Support Professionals, whose compassion and dedication shape every moment of support we provide.

DSPs are more than caregivers. They are teachers, advocates, problem-solvers, cheerleaders, and trusted partners in daily life. They help with personal care, build skills, support community engagement, and create safe, empowering environments where individuals with disabilities can work and thrive. Their work is essential not just to TruCare, but to the families and community we serve.

National Caregivers Day reminds us that caregivers across the country, professional and family, are the backbone of care. They ensure continuity, reduce strain on healthcare systems, and bring stability and joy to the people they support. And every day, our DSPs embody that impact with heart.

To our TruCare DSPs:
Thank you for showing up with patience and unwavering commitment. Thank you for empowering choice. Thank you for honoring each person's story. Thank you for making a difference that cannot be measured but is deeply felt.

If you know a caregiver or DSP, take a moment today to say THANK YOU! A few words of appreciation can mean the world.

is a time to honor the strength of the black community, including the millions of Black disabled people whose experiences are often overlooked. Disability is more common in Black communities, yet the barriers faced are shaped by both racism and ableism. This intersection impacts everything from access to healthcare and employment opportunities to safety, representation, and support.

Black disabled people experience higher rates of discrimination in the workplace, fewer accommodations, and disproportionate harm when it comes to police violence in the community. All realities that are rarely centered in national conversations. Historically, even in civil rights movements, race a disability have been treated a separate issues, leaving Black disabled voices pushed to the margins.

reminds us that people don't live single-issue lives. When we acknowledge the full picture, we create space for better policies, stronger communities, and more equitable care. TruCare is committed to uplifting voices, advocating for culturally competent support, and celebrating the leadership and resilience that continue to shape our world.
