Thinking about lip filler, but unsure if a half syringe is enough? Let’s talk about it 👄

First things first — a FULL syringe of filler is only about the size of a blueberry 🫐 once you actually see the amount of product. It’s truly not as much as most people think, and MOST clients can receive a full syringe beautifully and naturally without any issue.

That being said, a half syringe can absolutely be the right choice for certain clients — especially those who naturally have very thin or small lips. Starting with a smaller amount allows your provider to slowly and safely stretch the lips over time, allowing you to build toward a fuller result while maintaining a natural appearance.

Many clients who are just dipping their toes into the lip filler pond choose to start with a half syringe, and that is completely okay! We just want patients to understand that unless their lips are naturally very small/thin, a half syringe will not create a dramatic transformation. Think subtle hydration, balance, and enhancement rather than a huge change.

What does 1 syringe of lip filler actually look like? 👄✨

Most people are surprised to learn that 1 full syringe is only 1mL — about 1/5 of a teaspoon. It’s designed to enhance the lips, not completely change them.

Something else important to know: most before & after photos you see online are taken immediately after treatment. Right after injections, lips are swollen, which can make the results look much bigger than the final healed outcome. Once swelling settles over the next 2 weeks, the lips soften and refine significantly.

Because of this, I generally reserve about 0.2mL for a 2-week follow-up appointment. This allows us to see how the lips naturally settle before deciding if a small touch-up is needed. This approach helps create more balanced, natural, and refined results instead of overfilling all at once.

Beautiful lips are usually built thoughtfully and strategically — not just by adding volume 💋

One of the biggest reasons we created our aesthetic memberships was to reward the clients who are committed to maintenance and long-term results — because those who come in consistently every 3–4 months truly do save more over time.

Here’s a real example from a recent neurotoxin appointment:

• 46 units of tox = $644
