Dr. Stacey Windham ND Using integrated, patient focused medicine to address the physical, emotional, social & environmenta Hello and welcome!

I am a licensed naturopathic doctor in the state of Oregon and am currently practicing in Cincinnati, Ohio. I grew up in Cincinnati then lived in Columbus, Ohio where I earned my undergraduate degree from the Ohio State University. After working as a CT technologist for a time at Ohio State Medical Center and Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, I moved to Portland, Oregon to pursue a career in naturopathic medicine. My husband and I loved the pacific northwest and all its beauty. We were married and had our first child during our time in Oregon, however family is important to us both. We decided to move back to Ohio so our daughter would be closer to cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents! Through my own personal health struggles I found naturopathic medicine. As my knowledge and understanding of naturopathic medicine has grown it has helped my overall wellness and quality of life. During my four years at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) I focused on interweaving naturopathic medicine, medical nutrition and integrative medical research with my conventional background. This approach has provided me with the ability to aid people of varying medical complexity in their journey towards health. I believe that every individual is unique and that naturopathic medicine provides the avenue for me to meet each individual where they are. I'm excited by the opportunity to help others in their progression through life in order to bring them to the best version of themselves. When not working as a doctor, you will find me enjoying every moment of being a mother and wife. I love to be out in nature (especially hiking and camping), cooking and having sing-a-long dance parties with my daughter and son.

So often in "diet culture" individuals believe they need to completely eliminate anything "bad" in order to succeed with their goals.

Instead of completely avoiding sweets; why not focus more on a balanced diet so when you have the opportunity to enjoy a cupcake or donut then you can without guilt or shame.
-You do not have to run 5 miles in order to have a cupcake and if your kids are having a special treat of donuts for breakfast you should be able to enjoy with them too!
-You can also set a great example for your kids by showing them you can enjoy that treat while living a healthy lifestyle. Whether we want to admit it or not our kids are always watching; so setting a positive example can lead to lifelong healthy relationships with food.

We only live once and you should enjoy all aspects of life! Everything in moderation can contribute to a healthy life. Stressing over food can lead to more inflammation than just enjoying that treat every once in a while.

Some tips when you enjoy that cupcake or donut:
-Always pair with some form of protein (or even consider adding protein if you are making them! Which can be an easy way to hide protein with kids)
-Make sure you have eaten something besides just a cupcake or donut in order to not lead to spike in blood sugar which can then lead to that "sugar crash" and resultant change in cortisol
-Drink plenty of fluids to help your body digest
-Sit down and enjoy that cupcake or donut; allow you body to go to a rest and digest state
