Did you know that mental health workforce shortages impact more than 132 million Americans? 🧠

Across the U.S., we need more than 6,600 mental health practitioners to fill critical care gaps — a crisis that affects families, schools, and communities every day.

At the Southwest Regional Behavioral Health Workforce Coalition, we believe behavioral health is healthcare.

Our shared vision is a future where everyone has access to high-quality, culturally responsive care delivered by a workforce that reflects and understands the communities it serves. 🏘️✨

It’s time to build the workforce our communities need, because mental health can’t wait.

🚨 380 to 1.

That’s the current ratio of Ohioans who need behavioral health services to the number of available mental health and substance use disorder professionals.

Across the U.S., more than 132 million people are affected by mental health provider shortages, and Ohio is feeling the pressure.

Long before the pandemic, budget cuts and workforce turnover were straining the system. Now, the gap is wider than ever—with 6,600+ practitioners needed to fill critical vacancies.

At RBHWC, we’re working to change that. Our mission is to build the behavioral health workforce our communities need—through strategic policy, collaboration, and data-driven action. ✅

Looking for a meaningful, high-impact career in behavioral health? 🤔

Consider becoming a Psychiatrist—a licensed medical doctor (MD) or a doctor of osteopathy (DO) who diagnoses, treats, and helps prevent mental health disorders in children, teens, and adults.

From talk therapy to medication management, psychiatrists are uniquely trained to support individuals through everyday stress and complex conditions like schizophrenia. 🧠

It’s a long-term investment—about 12 years of education after high school—but the reward is a career in high demand, with strong earning potential and diverse job settings, from hospitals and universities to private practice and public agencies.

Passionate about science, problem-solving, and helping others heal? This could be the path for you! 🙌🏾
