Keep You Moving - Integrative Medical Massage

Keep You Moving - Integrative Medical Massage I use a variety of techniques to help my clients achieve their goals of reduced pain, increased range of motion, reduced stress and increased general wellness.

As a clinical massage therapist my goal is to help people achieve therapeutic goals like pain relief, increase range of motion, and improve quality of life using a variety of techniques, and clinical reasoning Muscle Energy Techniques, (MET) which is a contract and stretch technique that uses the body's self protection systems to help relax muscles. Trigger Point Therapy, which is fairly simple in practice. Find the spot in a sore muscle that is most sore, usually accompanied by a knot, and press on it until it relaxes. Doing this temporarily suffocates the erratic muscle fibers and causes them to reset, reducing or eliminating pain. Myofascial Stretch, which is also fairly straightforward, I pin and stretch a selected muscle while I have my client contract it's antagonist(s), the muscles that work opposite it, to stretch out both the muscle fibers and the connective tissue of the muscle. Craniosacral Therapy, (CST) which is a very good stress reducer and general whole body treatment because it fully activates the parasympathetic nervous system (Rest and Digest system) to help the body return to it's natural emotional, physical and psychological state. CST is also an almost imperceptibly subtle group of techniques where the movements are so small and gentle they are rarely felt. Though CST is also a highly invasive technique, because it works below the body's level of perception, and therefor below it's level of psychological guarding. Myofascial Release, also under the umbrella of CST technically, it uses the same subtle movements to realign fascia - the connective tissue that connects all parts of the body together - to reduce pain, relax muscles and calm stubborn trigger points.

These delightful holidays can be stressful, and stress can cause our usual aches and pains to get worse!

Not to mention the hours spent in the same posture over a hot stove, doing the same repetitive motions stirring or chopping. Our backs, necks, and shoulders can really suffer during the holidays.

Thankfully, massage therapy can help!
For best results, we would start with the muscles that are over used/chronically shortened (like Pectoralis Major), and then work on the muscles that are over-worked while also stretched out by bigger, stronger neighboring muscles (like Trapezius).
Then, we would figure out some stretches and/or other activities to help you manage on your own, and before you know it you don't even need my help anymore! ..Until the next time you manage to hurt yourself at least!

Do you have pain around your low back, knees, and/or thighs that's worse when you sit for 15-20 minutes, or stand for 15-20 minutes?

This can come from a displacement of your sacrum bone (the middle bone of your pelvis, and second-to-last bone of your spine), and can be incredibly uncomfortable or painful from even a small shift.

Thankfully, the fix is pretty quick, simple, and easy! A trained professional, like myself, would assess your sacrum to see how it's displaced, and then use your muscles to help guide the bone back into place and do some massage to ensure the supporting muscles don't pull the bone back out of place right away. Then, some light exercise, like walking, would help to ensure the bone stays put and you could find significant relief in as few as one treatment!

If you're curious if this could be going on with you, send me a text, email, or call!
I would be honored to help you begin your healing journey.

Getting a massage (especially from a good therapist) is like working out without the gross 'exercising' part.

You feel better because your muscles have been moved and stretched and pulled, but you don't have to do any of the exertion yourself - somebody else does it for you!

Which is especially good if you have some nasty aches and pains than never seem to go away. Instead of possibly putting yourself at risk of worse injury, you just have somebody else move your muscles around and your chronic pain either goes away, or at least feels better!

If you don't believe me, let me know and I'll bet you a free massage I can prove it!
