University of Cincinnati Nurse Anesthesia Education Program

University of Cincinnati Nurse Anesthesia Education Program Welcome! Follow for insider info, news, and updates for the UC Nurse Anesthesia Program.

Nurse anesthetists have been providing anesthesia care to patients in the United States for 150 years. As one of the oldest existing educational programs for nurse anesthetists, the University of Cincinnati Nurse Anesthesia program has a long history of academic and clinical excellence. Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are advanced practice nurses and anesthesia professionals who sa

fely administer approximately 32 million anesthetics each year in the United States. As a CRNA, you will provide anesthesia care to patients before, during, and after surgery or childbirth. You will practice with a high degree of autonomy as you work collaboratively with other healthcare providers such as surgeons, anesthesiologists, dentists, and podiatrists. The UC Nurse Anesthesia program requires 28 months (seven semesters) of full-time study. Clinical experience begins in the first semester to allow students to integrate and apply concepts learned in the classroom.

Our UC NAP Wellness Committee has been taking a brief pause from tests, exams, and studying to give back. We created gift bags with words of encouragement for our RNSA1s preparing to take their first Machine OSCE, a big milestone in their CRNA career! Some of our fabulous students also volunteered with the 513 Relief Bus during the 2025 Black Men’s Wellness Day in Cincinnati performing blood pressures, glucose/AIC checks, BMI measurements, and cholesterol checks. Sometimes the best form of wellness is serving others and remembering why we do what we do. Our Bearcat community is strong thanks to our amazing students! Last week our RNSA1s had a visit from a furry wellness ambassador on behalf of the UC NAP Wellness Committee. Anesthesia school is challenging, but we like to take small breaks to connect with UC therapy dogs and enjoy moments of smiles and relaxation.
