In this festive season and all the joy that comes with it, we often overlook something important that I want to talk about today, called “SAD.”

Feeling down around the holidays is common, but it’s different from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Understanding this difference can help you better support yourself or someone you care about.

For some individuals, the shorter days, colder temperatures, and reduced sunlight can trigger noticeable changes in mood and energy. SAD is not just the “winter blues”—it is a type of depression that follows a seasonal pattern.

🌧 Common symptoms may include:
• Persistent sadness or hopelessness
• Low energy or fatigue
• Oversleeping or a desire to “hibernate”
• Social withdrawal
• Difficulty concentrating
• Changes in appetite, including increased cravings for carbohydrates

If you’ve noticed significant shifts in your mood or behavior as the seasons change, you may be experiencing SAD. You are not alone, and support is available.

Just a friendly reminder about our upcoming virtual training titled "Data – Something We Need, but Where Do We Get It?" This training will provide valuable insights into gathering and utilizing data to create impactful prevention programs and tell compelling stories about your community.
