Tina Walter, C-IAYT, is a Mind-Body Intervention Specialist at the Osher Center for Integrative Health at UC, where she provides evidence-based yoga therapy interventions to patients and their caregivers throughout their cancer journey – from prevention and diagnosis to treatment and end of life.

For over a decade, Tina has designed and provided protocols for patients in the clinical areas of inpatient and outpatient oncology at local hospitals to manage the adverse effects of treatment and improve clinical outcomes. She teaches meditation and both private and group yoga classes for cancer at UC Health and the Cancer Support Community. She is also leading a community yoga education project through the Osher Center focused on the science and practice of yoga for healing.

Tina is certified by The International Association of Yoga Therapists and has advanced training in yoga for cancer and chronic illness. She is past Chair of the Yoga SIG for the Society for Integrative Oncology and is a contributing author of a book on yoga therapy for cancer. She has co-authored published articles including a manuscript on the efficacy of yoga therapy during cancer treatment and has presented her research on a similar topic at local and national conferences. At present, Tina is studying to become a board-certified health coach, adding another dimension to her yoga therapy credentials.

A mother of five children, Tina resides in Cincinnati with her husband, Bob. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, cooking, walking in nature, and taking care of their new grand baby.

Exciting news! The Osher Center for Integrative Health at UC has received a grant from the Weil Foundation to launch a micro-learning pilot aimed at expanding whole person care in residency education.

Led by Dr. Jennifer Molano, this innovative curriculum will begin with a pilot in UC’s Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine in 2025-2026. These virtual learning modules will equip residents with practical tools to integrate whole person health into patient care – potentially transforming medical education and advancing integrative medicine across specialties.

This effort builds on our mission to make integrative medicine more accessible through student retreats, mind-body skills courses, mindful moments, lectureships, and more. The future of healthcare is whole person care – and it starts with education. 💡🩺

July is Social Wellness Month! 🤝💬

Social connection plays a vital role in our overall health – yet millions of Americans experience loneliness or social isolation, which increases the risk of premature death, heart disease, stroke, anxiety, depression, and dementia. In fact, lacking social connection can be as harmful to health as smoking 15 ci******es a day.

Social wellness means more than just having friends – it’s about the quality, structure, and function of our relationships across all areas of life: family, community, workplaces, and even digital spaces.

🫶 Make it a habit to stay in touch with loved ones and try new activities like volunteering or physical activity.
