Please join us in welcoming Betsey Zenk Nuseibeh, PhD, as Faculty Director of the Music and Community Health Program at the Osher Center for Integrative Health!
Betsey has been a valued collaborator with the Osher Center for many years, delivering community music therapy sessions and teaching the MEDS 2090 Music and Health course for undergraduate students in the UC College of Medicine.
With more than 20 years of experience in music and music therapy, Betsey founded Melodic Connections in 2008, a pioneering nonprofit community music therapy studio that serves individuals of all ages and abilities. Through innovative partnerships with organizations like the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Cincinnati, and Cincinnati Public Schools, Melodic Connections has fostered inclusion, connection, and healing through music.
Betsey holds a PhD in Leisure Behavior from Indiana University School of Public Health–Bloomington, where her groundbreaking research, Project Resonance, explores music-based singing interventions to enhance health-related quality of life for Black and African American breast cancer survivors. She also earned a BM in Music Therapy from the University of Iowa, an MM in Oboe Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and an MEd in Special Education from the University of Cincinnati.
We are thrilled to have Betsey’s passion, expertise, and visionary leadership formally on our team as we expand integrative approaches to music and community wellness!
