I was sedentary, I ate and drank too much, I kept gaining weight, and my blood pressure was climbing. I knew from my family history that I was going to become a Type II diabetic,
have heart disease and/or cancer, or have a stroke within the next five years. At the time, I weighed 215 with 33% body fat. I started working out twice a week, and eventually expanded that to five days a week. I didn't change any of my other habits yet, so I actually gained five more pounds over the next year. The only thing that improved was my cardiovascular fitness and my blood pressure. l I started tracking all of my food and drinks which finally opened my eyes. I began a daily habit of tracking every single calorie, using an app that helped me calculate my daily calorie need to drop 1-1/2 pounds a week. Over the next ten months, I got down to 155 pounds and 16% body fat. Here's where the real work began. That's where you weigh what you should but you're carrying around too much fat. I began lifting weights three days a week and doing cardio another three days. I shifted my food focus to protein, with the calories needed to maintain my weight. Over the next year, I gained ten pounds of muscle and lost five pounds of fat. I'm now 160 pounds at 11% body fat. I set a goal and I got there. What are your goals?
