We’re so excited to welcome Rachel!

Rachel Brown, MSW, LSW, is a licensed social worker who brings an energized, warm, and person-centered approach to therapy. With deep respect for each client’s individuality, she integrates a range of evidence-based modalities to support meaningful exploration, healing, and growth.

She has specialized experience working with the LGBTQ+ community, neurodivergent adults, and individuals navigating personality disorders, depression, and OCD. She is passionate about creating an affirming, nonjudgmental space where clients can show up as they are and feel seen, heard, and supported. At Ascent, Rachel will be seeing all ages and has training in Autplay which is a play therapy intervention designed for young autisitic children and in Collaborative Problem Solving. Rachel has a particular interest in working with those with a PDA profile.

Rachel earned her Master of Social Work from Miami University and has worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health centers, outpatient programs, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), substance use recovery programs, and virtual therapy. Her diverse background equips her to meet clients wherever they are in their journey with skill, empathy, and creativity.

At Ascent, Rachel provides individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy. She values building strong, authentic therapeutic relationships that empower clients to reconnect with themselves and move toward their goals with confidence and clarity.

Rachel currently has immediate availability for play therapy, individual therapy, parent coaching, and family therapy.

We’re sending our best wishes to Courtney, our wonderful office manager, as she begins an exciting new chapter in Seattle! Courtney has been such an integral part of our team — her kindness, organization, and compassion will be missed. Thank you, Courtney, for everything you’ve brought to Ascent!

As we say farewell, we’re also excited to welcome Dr. Anjali Jain as our new temporary office manager! 🎉 Dr. Jain holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Miami University and brings a wealth of experience in outpatient, intensive outpatient, and residential settings. She is passionate about building inclusive and accessible healthcare systems, especially for neurodivergent individuals and minority communities. Her work is grounded in trauma-informed, culturally responsive care, using evidence-based frameworks like RO-DBT and DBT.

Please join us in both wishing Courtney the best in her journey and giving a warm welcome to Dr. Jain!

Dr. Lauren Elder had the privilege of sharing her experience both professionally and personally about neurodivergent parenting strategies. It was a packed house with over 40 people who showed up to learn strategies to parents in a collaborative and supportive way. A bonus was the neurodiversity affirming childcare!

If you attended the training, share with us what you learned from Dr. Elder or other collaborative parenting techniques that have worked with your neurodivergent kids in the comments.
