THIS SUNDAY @ 9am (Tomorrow). I’ve been invited back to .world the next two Sundays (2/16 & 23) to continue my series of classes around practices that support us with pain and trauma. In the last few months I have received messages from clients and friends, and have also chronically struggled with the feelings of powerlessness from living within pain and trauma cycles (especially during this tumultuous time). Being chronically stressed, mentally scrambled, and in pain is EXHAUSTING and often leads to debilitating despair. This next session I’ll be sharing my practices around embodying power and balance. Think of this kind of power to be like the pure power of the sun 🌞. For me, the practices take me from feeling like a Picasso painting, to feeling reoriented and balanced in both my bodymind and the world around me, and revitalized with a more hopeful and capable spirit. Tomorrow morning (Sunday 11/10 @ 9am) I will be teaching a public 90 min class as part of .world ‘s ongoing Soma Sundays series. My offerings are made up mostly of embodiment meditations and some subtle somatic movement for chronic pain & trauma. The timing feels relevant. I signed up to teach for last week and this week’s dates months ago, not realizing until they were upon us that my classes were positioned right before and following the election. The practices are what have been getting me through this time. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of your referrals and support for my doula work. AND it's time I let you know all at once instead of one at a time that I have been and will continue to take all of 2023 off of doulaing to continue to heal after an extremely traumatic beginning of the year and subsequent slow road of recovery post surgery on my lung. (I owe you an update on all that too. It's coming.)

It's such an honor to be invited into those intimate spaces and it breaks my heart every time I've needed to turn someone down this year, because you have no idea how much I want to be there. Birthwork is so presence driven, and I take the integrity of my presence during that journey very seriously. Until I get my stamina back and feel more physically and energetically reliable and grounded in my own body in order to hold that kind of space, I have needed to pause. The good news is, I'm finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think and hope by 2024 I'll be good to be back with you and your loved ones in that capacity. Until then, I am happy to refer you to some of the other incredible birthworkers the city has to offer upon request.

This photo is being shared with permission and is of the very magical birth of the sweet and sassy (now 3 year old!) Feliné. It was so special to witness this homebirth VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). Big sister Emilienne was a wonderful helper throughout, and this picture was captured by grandmother Kimberly just after papa bear Dana caught Feliné and brought her up to mama Gabriella to behold the fruit of her labor. ✨

Tomorrow starts the first part of the third and final required teacher training with Dr. Judith Blackstone to become a fully certified Realization Process teacher (Meditation + Embodiment + Subtle Psychotherapy). Will be talking more about this at some point, as well as looking for pals I can practice the meditations with. I love and have gotten so much from this system. I can’t wait to be able to share it! Yippee!!

Eat up these blue skies and white puffy clouds. How does it make you feel to connect to them on a cellular level? I imagine the softness of the clouds passing slowly through me and that the fluctuations of my mind slow to their pace. I feel the spaciousness of the sky mirrored in my chest. I feel the radiance of the sun. I’m inviting that into every cell of my body. (Deep breath. Audible extended exhale.)

Exciting mail delivery. I predict a lot of dancing with my pelvic model. Ha! Getting my supplies in for the upcoming training I’m doing to become a Childbirth Educator through Cornerstone Doula Trainings . Woohoo!!!
