Eat Well. Play Well. Live Well. Bee Well! Shannon’s Story + the Birth of Bee Well Pediatrics:
In 2004, I graduated from the Yale School of Nursing as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and was recruited by Cincinnati Children’s Diabetes Center. After the birth of my first daughter, I left the hospital and joined a small but busy private practice and re-focused on primary care pediatrics. During this time, I noticed a huge need for a different model of care that focused on the root cause of illness and not just symptom management with multiple medications.
After 7 years in Primary Care and the birth of my third daughter, I realized that I wanted to learn more and create a better approach to my medical practice. I wanted a model that embraced the idea of total health, that allowed for a relationship between provider, patient and family and the time to explore their lifestyle, relationships, and illnesses. The current system does not allow for this unique yet important approach to health and wellness. I then found Integrative Medicine and began to immerse myself in this profound model of medicine that I had envisioned since I was young. I became a Certified Integrative Health Coach, read as much as I could get my hands on, attended an intensive workshop with top Integrative Pediatrician, Lawrence Rosen, and ultimately the idea of Bee Well Pediatrics was born.
As a busy mother of three girls (11yrs, 8yrs and 3yrs), I understand the needs for total wellness care with a more natural approach, and believe it is more important than ever to create a foundation for our children and families that is healthy in body, mind and spirit.
Bee Well Pediatrics has a mission to deliver high quality, patient and family centered, integrative pediatric care to infants, children, and young adults.
