Catch up on the news time!
I had a dream back in 2022 to be a TEDX speaker. I had a very brief idea of what I wanted to share.
🤗My desire was to help people know there is greatness within each of us and an idea conceived, gestated, and birthed into reality can create a positive impact in their lives and the world.
It all started with a pair of shoes. I found some sparkly "tennis shoes", loafers 👞that I decided I would wear when I spoke. They sat under the bed and from time to time I would get them out and look at them.
I looked to see if there were any TEDX local and sent messages to the facebook and received an automated message ' thanks for checking in....". Persistence was my key. I would send a message whenever i was impressed to do it. One day I received a reply from a real person. 😃
This real person suggested a different TEDx who also had no current schedule for applications. Then one day..... They posted that applications were open for TEDXFOLSOM in my local area. 🎉
I had even looked in other states and each one said you have to live in the area. So I wasn't planning on moving to do that and trust the timing for the local ones I held to..
My friend from Texas was here for a visit when the applications came open. She and I sat filling out what would become the experience of a lifetime. 🌟
Marlene cheered me on every step of the way. So grateful for her support!
Next I received an email requesting an audition via zoom. For the next week, I was focused and attentive to building my idea. Let me just say, I was obsessed with making it "right". It would be the ground work for what would become the actual talk.
I attended the audition with Jen REAL Jen Oliver and Matt Lonergan and then the email came, sharing they would be honored to have me on the speaker line up for TEDXFolsom 2024.
Daily I began to work on the idea. The curators and coaches in our group sessions, were AMAZING!. So incredibly encouraging and wisdom to help formulate something, never before created.
Two of the speakers Liz Colman and Janice Burt and myself gathered together to rehearse. They have become wonderful friends through this process and I am so so grateful for them.
On June 22, 2024 I stood on the Harris Center Stage at Folsom Lake College and delivered my message along with 12 other incredible, courageous speakers.
What a journey of discovery in who I am along the way. Doubts, fears, what if were reprogrammed into I am a Brave Thinking InstituteThinker and a Bold action taker. I have been studying with Brave Thinking Institute for 5 years now which gave me the tools to walk this journey.
I had fun, loved sharing this message with people local and eventually it will go on the TED Youtube site for anyone to view. When it does, I will definitely post a link.
Oh and the shoes, I did wear them to the afterparty to dance in.

The Pregnancy and Birth of an Idea: Paralleling Ideology and Baby Development. The title may change as it moves to the TED site.
