My physical salon is located inside a residential assisted living in Folsom.
I’m a disabled veteran who is grateful that the VA sent me to cosmetology school 5 years ago. Every year I give back because it just feels right.
I’ve given my own residents 5 FREE veteran haircuts this month.
If you know a veteran in need, send them to me.
It’s that time of year where we visit family and see aging parents and notice their self care might be slacking . They seem OK, but what is really lurking under those wigs and socks??? Take a peek .
And if their fingernails are long, jagged, soiled, that is one obvious sign. Nails can become a health and safety issue. I see it daily. See below…
I also provide mobile visits • Accessible Salon Services are for everyone from toddlers to octo-nona and centonarians. I visit all ages and assist with personal services such as haircuts, manicure, pedicures.
Oftentimes my first visit is the most rewarding because my guest is usually in dire need of some personal care. They either neglect their personal care because they cannot trim their own nails or keep arms up long enough to brush their hair. Maybe loved ones aren’t able to care properly for their aging parent who is 99 yrs old because they are in their 80s as well.
If you cannot reach your toes, ask someone to do it for you.
…This man (a veteran), always has shoes and socks on. His family claims they had no idea it was this bad. When I’m doing a fingernail trim, I always ask to see toes. And this is why.
This lady (a veteran) always wears a wig. Her hair does need to be cut, but she usually refuses. This sore is what I found. I found it, not the caregivers, not even the nurse.
