This is wild! History made! Congrats, Rachel Entrekin!

After 56 hours, 9 minutes, and 48 seconds of racing, Rachel Entrekin has made history as the first woman to win the Cocodona 250, shattering the overall course record.

The 34-year-old from Birmingham, Alabama took the lead around mile 50 and never looked back, taking advantage of cloudy, cool conditions to carry her momentum through two full days and nights of racing.

Gotta love running in Florida! Gators, manatees, cranes, eagles, dolphins, armadillos.

To all my friends doing the New York City Marathon, tomorrow, have an amazing day. I wish I was there because I know it will be epic.

Of the 23 marathons (and longer) I've run, New York stands out. People talk about the crowd support, but until you experience it, you can't even imagine. Throughout the entire course, the cheering just keeps pumping you up, higher and higher.

Check out the videos below. Sound on!

If you race marathons or if you're thinking, "Maybe I'll do just one," start trying to get into New York or think about fundraising for a bib. It might take years to get in, but it will be so worth it.

Let's talk about one way to build endurance. Note: I recorded this a while back; so, when I say we're "coming into the holidays," that's because I recorded this in November.

Here's a QUIZ!
One of the best ways to improve running, besides being out there running, is to improve your diet, and one way to do that is to opt for the healthiest foods and pass up the unhealthiest.

Here's the quiz: Do you know which fruits and vegetables are on the Dirty Dozen list? Do you know which ones have the most pesticides?
These are the fruits and vegetables that the Environmental Working Group has found have the highest levels of pesticides, which means you should only eat the organic version, which is still likely to have some glyphosate, but at least they'll have much less than the organic version.
I'll link to the list, but BEFORE you click, make a list of the foods you would assume are on it. It's a way to test yourself.

Check out EWG's Dirty Dozen list to help decide when you should splurge for organic produce – part of our annual Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce™

Hope all is well with the Mojo Community.
Today, I want to recommend a recent Huberman Lab episode. I don't know about you, but when my Run Tampa Club ran this morning, it was about 80 degrees with 85% humidity, everyone's idea of bad running weather; however, we persisted.

In this HL episode, guest Michael Easter, author of "The Comfort Crisis," makes the point that, over the decades, our lives have become incredibly 'comfortable,' to our great detriment.

It made me think differently about today's heat and humidity. I hope you'll listen.

I think you'll have a different perspective when you run in less than ideal conditions from now on.

My guest is Michael Easter, a professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and best-selling author. We discuss how particular daily life choices undermin...

Big news! The Mojo for Running Online Coaching Program is now free, at least for a little while. The program is geared to many levels of runners but not all. It is for beginner through intermediate.
The schedules are designed for anyone reaching for a new distance, from those wanting to train for their first 5K up to those seeking to run a half marathon for the first or second time.
For each distance, you'll find a schedule geared to the first time at that distance. After that, you'll have another schedule to prepare for your second race at that distance, a schedule that is a step up in difficulty to prepare for a second event of the same distance.
Find the program at Coaching.MojoforRunning.com.
I recommend also joining my Mojo for Running Coaching Program Facebook group for people in that program.
I am doing this because I'm wanting to create an online community for all Mojo listeners that is more similar to my Run Tampa group, a group that provides a community for my podcast listeners, providing them all with the opportunity to interact and become friends, sharing experiences, encouraging each other and celebrating accomplishments. https://coaching.mojoforrunning.com/

***At some future point, I will likely take the program offline and put it in an online pdf format, which I may charge for, but it is free for the time-being.

Whether you're just starting to run, aiming for longer distances, or pursuing a PR, you are in the right place. We can do this.

I'm sorry to go so long without any new episodes, again. Just too hectic preparing for the 5k I put on each year, The Tinsel Run and renovating our house, but I promise to be back in December. Ask me your questions, now. What topics do you want to hear about?

Tinsel Run is less than two months away. Are you registered?
How often do you get to select a racerback or tank shirt option?
Well, that's just one way Tinsel Run is different?
This year, for the first time, we're also giving awards 4 deep in the usual 5-year age groups. https://runsignup.com/Race/FL/Tampa/TinselRun

Carol Wright started running at age 69. Your best can still be ahead, no matter your age. It’s up to you to make it so.

Carol Wright, an 82-year-old runner, made an incredible achievement this April by completing the 2024 Boston Marathon in 5 hours and 54 minutes.

She claimed victory in the women’s 80-plus age division and was also the oldest participant to finish the race this year.

What’s truly inspiring is that Carol only began her running journey at the age of 69!

Massive respect for her determination! Keep up the amazing work! 👏🏃‍♀️❤
