Many of my students and clients are going home for the holidays. 🍁 While they have been working on healing their relationships with food and their bodies, their families might not be on the same page yet. This can bring up a lot of anxiety about going home. I love this post from offering up some nice 💕spice 🌶️ and ice 🧊 suggestions on how to navigate and respond to harmful fat phobic, diet-y and judgy comments. And go check out Amanda’s () awesome new book: More of You: The Fat Girl’s Field Guide To the Modern World. You’ll learn practical tips for setting body boundaries, learning how to embrace your body just as it is today, and much more. ❤️🍁

Myth 1: Weight loss is necessary to control diabetes.

Fact: Weight loss is temporary for most and possibly harmful in the long run. All the available evidence on weight loss shows us that most people can lose some weight initially, but within three to five years, 95% of people who lose weight have regained some, all, or more weight than was lost in the first place.

Recent studies have also shown that weight loss isn’t helpful for preventing heart disease in those with diabetes, and weight cycling – going down and up again with weight – may actually increase inflammation in the long run, which is bad for blood sugar management.

What can you do instead? Find out when you download our FREE GUIDE, 7 Surprising Myths About Diabetes and Weight.
