This is what it looks like when you step out of the box you’ve been living in.

Literally. 😊🌿

I spent decades defining myself by my roles. Teacher. The one who showed up, stayed late, gave everything.

Those roles were real and meaningful. I don’t regret a single year.

But at some point I began to wonder who I was outside of them.

At 58, I stepped out of the classroom. Into a homestead in Tennessee. Into a TV show I almost said no to. Into a community of women I get to walk alongside every week.

Into this. Arms wide. Laughing. Present.

Fully, joyfully, unapologetically myself.

There is life beyond the edges of whatever box you’ve been living in. And it is bigger and brighter than you think. 🌿

DM me NOW and I’ll share what stepping out looks like for you. ♥

You finally get a weekend to yourself — and then you get sick. Sound familiar? There's actually a scientific reason this keeps happening.

It's called leisure sickness. When stress hormones run chronically, they suppress certain immune functions — your body redirects everything toward survival. The moment you stop and stress hormones begin to drop, your immune system finally gets the signal to do the work it's been postponing.

Your body isn't betraying you. It's finally catching up.

Here's your rest permission tool. I learned it from . Say this out loud: "Rest is the work.”

Then place both hands over your heart. Take three slow breaths — exhale twice as long as you inhale.

The long exhale activates your parasympathetic nervous system — the system responsible for rest, repair, and immune function. You are not being unproductive. You are giving your body what it has been waiting for.

I help women teachers rest before illness decides for them. DM me PATHWAYS to learn more. 🌿

In her work life, Jennifer finds expression as a spiritual director, retreat leader, community pastor, clinical social worker, advocate, and most especially, beloved child of the Holy. Jennifer is also the executive director of Journey Center Great Lakes, rooted in the contemplative way, creating space to meet people where they are on their spiritual journey, especially for those who don’t or can’t find expression in traditional settings. Through it all, she loves to discover and expand her understanding and experience of life and the Holy through relationship, creation, music, nature, and creative expression.

Finally a free weekend… and you’re sick.

What I’ve noticed is the body forces rest when we delay it.

Especially for women teachers balancing school and caregiving.

5 preventive practices:
1. One evening per week off duty.
2. No school email after 7pm.
3. Hydrate consistently before caffeine.
4. Schedule a “do nothing” hour.
5. Say no once per week.

Peaceful Pathways teaches women educators preventive recovery.

Nothing lasts forever.

I know — that can feel like a warning. But what if it’s actually a gift?

When I relocated from California to Tennessee at 58, I had to sit with impermanence in a very real way.

The house I’d raised a life in — gone. The classroom I’d returned to every August for 35 years — gone.

And what I found on the other side of that letting go was something unexpected:

A deeper appreciation for what was right in front of me.

My mom’s laugh at the dinner table.
The light through the homestead window at 6am.
This moment. This breath. This ordinary, extraordinary day.

Impermanence isn’t a threat. It’s an invitation to be here — fully, right now. 🌿

DM me PEACE and I’ll share the practice that helped me learn to receive each moment as a gift. ♥

An open heart and an intention for healing.

That’s all it takes to begin.

K.D. came to Reiki not knowing exactly what to expect. She left with more than she came for — and a heart open to more still.

You don’t have to understand it fully to receive it.
You don’t have to believe in it perfectly to feel it.
You just have to show up — with an open heart and a willingness to receive.

I have seen this hundreds of times. The woman who was skeptical. The one who came because a friend insisted. The one who sat down tense and left an hour later saying she hadn’t felt that still in years.

Healing doesn’t ask for certainty.

It just asks for willingness. 🌿

DM me REIKI and I’ll share what your first Reiki experience might look like.

End of grading — and being needed everywhere else at the same time. If this is you, here's what's actually happening in your nervous system.

Chronic interruption trains your nervous system to stay on edge. Every incomplete task, every pivot mid-thought — your brain registers each one as an open loop. And open loops keep stress hormones running quietly in the background, even when nothing urgent is happening.

You're carrying dozens of unfinished things in your nervous system simultaneously. That's real. And it's exhausting.

Here's a three-minute reset I find super helpful.

Do a full brain dump — write down every open loop you're aware of. Every unfinished thing, every pending task, every nagging thought. You don't have to solve any of them. Just get them out of your body and onto paper. Then exhale slowly and say: "These are captured. I don't have to hold them right now."

Research shows that simply externalizing open loops reduces the mental energy required to hold them. Your nervous system gets relief the moment they land on the page.

Joy is a practice.

Not a destination. Not something that happens when everything finally lines up.

A practice.

I have laughed like this — really laughed, from somewhere deep and unguarded — in the middle of seasons that were anything but easy.

Healing from PTSD. Packing up a life. Saying goodbye to 35 years of teaching. Moving to Tennessee at 58.

None of those were easy. And joy showed up anyway.

Not because I ignored the hard parts. But because I learned to stop bracing against life and start moving with it.

The jaw softened. The lower abs released. The nervous system remembered what it felt like to be safe enough to laugh.

That’s not magic. That’s tools. 🌿

DM me STEADY and I’ll share the tool that helped me stop bracing and start breathing. ♥
