Griffin’s most recent lab results showed improvement!

We did not share in recent updates that one of his blood tests while he was in the ER showed blasts (immature blood cells normally found in the bone marrow). Hearing this immediately gave us flashbacks of when he was first diagnosed with B Cell ALL as there were a lot of blasts in his blood which ultimately led to his leukemia diagnosis.

His oncologist believes the blasts reported in his labs were stress induced from the virus’s his body was trying to fight. He told us that this is very possible and is confident that this is likely the case. He did not have any concerns about the blasts being leukemia. And the last few lab results, including the most recent, show no blasts.

Although Griffin is nearing the end of chemotherapy, we have a lot of stress and fear about the cancer returning. It’s difficult to not think about the what ifs. We are really trying to stay positive. We would not have been able to get through these trying times without so many of you, so thank you all!

Griffin has responded well to treatment, so we can be optimistic that he can live the long, happy, and healthy life that he so deserves!

Griffin’s blood counts are good enough to resume his oral chemotherapy. Only a few more weeks of oral chemo and he will be done!

Griff went in for more labs today. Should have a result by tomorrow. Really hoping to see an improvement from his last CBC results.

He returned to school on Monday and seems to be having a good week so far!

Griff has an appointment in clinic this morning.

Seems like he is starting to turn a corner and feeling more like himself over the last day or so. Still a real nasty lingering cough and having a difficult time with sleep, but overall he seems like he is improving.

Praying his labs look better today!

Poor Griffin is heading back to the ER after spiking a fever.

Saturday we started to see a little of his energy return, but this morning he woke up feeling really warm. He was on the hairy edge of a fever, so we phoned the oncologist on call and was given the OK to give him Tylenol and monitor him throughout the day. He spent the majority of the day relaxing on the couch and fell asleep for about half hour this evening. When he woke up he seemed very weak and still very tired but also uncomfortable.

His oncologist mentioned that the two viruses he currently is trying to fight could result in pneumonia, so she is requesting labs, more than likely fluids, antibiotics, and may end up ordering a chest X-ray.

We will provide updates when we have more information.

Please keep Griffin in your thoughts and prayers.

Griff is currently in the Dartmouth ER getting more labs, antibiotics, and fluids.

Once we get his lab results we will wait for next steps from his care team.

He was seen by his P*P today as he still is feeling very lethargic and has been dealing with ear pain and sure enough he has an ear infection.

Hoping the fluids and antibotics help him start feeling better quickly!

Griffin finished his last lumbar puncture with chemo administration today.

His hemoglobin and platelet counts were on the lower side and his ANC is on the cusp of neutropenia, but his care team was OK with him proceeding with the LP this morning.

He is definitely fighting some kind of virus but does not have fever which is a plus!

A few more things to look forward to:

Griffin’s last day of treatment is December 8th. At that point he will no longer be getting chemotherapy. His mediport will be surgically removed about a month later. He will continue his weekend bactrim for about six months. Following the discontinuation of his chemotherapy and the end of his treatment, he will need to be seen monthly for the next year to check his blood counts.

Due to his low ANC, his oncologist is requesting labs a week from now to see if there is an improvement.

No changes are being made to current chemotherapy dosage at this time.

Following his procedure today, Griff had a chance to see his Grammy, Aunt Wendy, and Uncle Mark.

Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween!

Griff had a rough day at school yesterday. Very lethargic, upset stomach, and just not himself.

He left school early and not long after getting home, vomited quite a bit.

He spent a better part of the afternoon sleeping but was uncomfortable as he continued to experience an upset stomach and sudden urges of having to vomit.

We gave him zofran which seemed to help with his nausea.

He has also developed a cough and spent most of the night coughing.

We’re hoping this is just little bug that he may have picked up from school.

His care team was notified and informed us that if he started feeling worse or developed a fever, that he would need to be seen.

He’s perked up a little bit today and has been able to eat some without feeling sick to his stomach, which is a plus!

In the last few weeks he started developing a rash on his face(cheeks and around his eyes) which looks more like contact dermatitis than anything else. His oncologist did not seemed concerned at his most recent appointment, and suggested we apply cortisone cream a few times a day. That seems to be helping.

We were well aware with him being back at school and his chemotherapy dosage being increased, that he would likely get sick. He’s had a very good stretch (about eight months) since he’s had any sort of extended stay in a hospital, so we’re hoping with a day or two of rest along with pushing the fluids, he can bounce back quickly!

Griff visited the pediatric oncology clinic today for his monthly check up.

Nothing extensive regarding today’s appointment- just checking his blood counts, vitals, and following up with his doctor.

His labs looked good today. His care team decided to increase his methotrexate dosage which will enhance the effectiveness against cancer cells.

In the last few days, Griffin has developed a cough along with a runny nose and today he started feeling a little under the weather. We expected that this would inevitably happen being back to school.

His oncologist did not have any concern at this time and we will continue with his current medications in addition to modifying his methotrexate dosage.

While waiting for his lab results, Griffin spent some time drawing some farm animals. First was a cow and then a horse. Before leaving clinic his favorite doctor asked if he would be willing to let him have his drawing of the cow. Griffin agreed and let him take the drawing. On the way home, his doctor called and shared with us that he showed the drawing to his wife, who is an art teacher, and she wants to put it on a t-shirt!

We will leave you with the picture of the horse since we forgot to snap a photo of the cow.

Griffin is still on track to finish treatment in December of this year. We have another trip planned for Florida in February of 2026, and we plan on visiting a Disney park or two. This time without any chemotherapy!

We will participating in the CHaD Hero on October 19th. Last year over 3,100 participants raised $825,000. These funds help children like Griffin lead their healthiest, happiest life, and helps a family like ours receive the support they need when they need it most!

As always, thank you all for following Griffin’s journey fighting B-Cell ALL. It’s almost over, and we are truly hoping the cancer stays away forever!

With love and gratitude,

Griffin and his family will be working with make-a-wish NH at the 28th Annual Fujifilm Dimatix Charity Golf Tournament held on Thursday, 8/21, at the Country Club of NH in Sutton, NH.

In previous years, Fujifilm has hosted charity golf tournaments, such as the 25th Annual Charity Golf Tournament & Auction which raised $65,000 for four local non profit organizations.

We will be operating a lemonade stand at the golf course on the day of the tournament. We will be located under a make-a-wish tent and will have literature about make-a-wish as well as a donation box. We may even share some details about Griffin’s make-a-wish trip and our experience with the organization.

Looking forward to seeing Fujifilm employees, vendors, customers, and friends!

It was a long and exhausting day for Griff. He was in and out of sleep when his nurse accessed his port in clinic today.
His counts continue to look great. The lumbar puncture procedure was successful.

There has been a small increase to his oral chemo meds due to his ANC being in a good place.

He grew half an inch and gained a pound since his visit last month. His oncologist is very pleased with his growth.

Griffin has ONE more lumbar puncture scheduled in his treatment plan!

He starts his five day steroid pulse this evening. The steroids always affect his emotional state. We are happy that he only has a short stint with them!

Griffin took his usual post appointment trip to Target with his mom and then, as requested, indulged in pancakes and bacon from Denny’s before picking up his favorite mac and cheese from Panera to save for later.

Your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes are appreciated!

On Friday he will be getting a lumbar puncture with chemo followed by a five day steroid pulse. It may be a rough week ahead, but Griffin will always persevere!

Please send prayers, good thoughts, and positive vibes his way.
