Ron Boettcher was born in Santa Monica, CA on January 26, 1940. His father was an aircraft mechanic: at Douglas Aircraft and served in the Army in 1945-1946. His mother raised four children, Ron being the oldest. Following him came a sister three years younger, a brother twelve years younger who, after struggling with muscular dystrophy, went home to be with the Lord in his early fifties. Ron's youngest brother is fourteen years his junior and he, along with their sister, both attend Buena Park Christian Fellowship:
Beverty Wyckhouse, Ron's future bride, grew up attending an assembly in Los Angeles: They met while attending local young people's meetings. Bev's:brother and Ron's sister, Annette, were dating and as a convenience Ron and Bev. rode along with them in the car also. Ron and Bev were later wed in 1960 in: a beautiful garden wedding: George (Bev's brother) and Annette were married there a year later. Ron and Bev moved to Pasadena where they lived intil Ron graduated from college. After graduation they moved to Fullerton and purchased a house in 1966 where Ron has lived for the past.59 years.
Ron went to school and worked part time as draftsman at an industrial muffler shop while Bev worked for the Shell Oil Company. Their daughter, Robin, was born in 1963. with a condition called hydrocephalus and lived until the age of four months. Wendy, a second daughter, was born in 1965 followed by their son, Tim, born in 1969. Wendy and Tim and their families, including Ron's six grandchildren, now reside in Texas
Ron attended Occidental College in Los. Angeles, on a 3-2 plan. He studied physics for three years. then transferred to Caltech for 2 years receiving a B.A. in physics from Occidental and a B.S in engineering from Caltech in 1962, then an additional year to receive his M.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1963. He began working for the Automatics division of North American Aviation in 1963 and worked there for 32 years. One of his most memorable accomptishments throughout his career was working as a system engineer for spaceborne computers, where he was the responsible systems engineer for the design of the computer which controlled the Hubble Spacecraft (1980-1995):
-After retiring in 1995, Ron and Bev carried on a ministry of creating scripture texts and bookmarks. To date 20,408 texts and 15,091 bookmarks have been sent out in 29 different languages. These scripture texts were created by pasting pictures along with a scripture verse onto cardboard mats and laminating them. These were then distributed throughout the world through the Messages of God's Love Multilingual bookstore in Tacoma, WA
Bev, who Ron describes as a sincere, loving, compatible, Christian woman went home to be with the Lord on February 15, 2019. Ron cannot remember them ever having a single fight, as she was always up-beat and great to be around. They were married for fifty-eight and a half years.
Ron knew of WAH through Evelyn Pelley, a resident and retired missionary whom his assembly has supported, along with Roger Parsons and several others from Buena Park Christian Fellowship. Paired with some health concerns and family and friends living nearby, Ron decided to visit a year and a half ago, and with increasing disability decided it was time to make the move. He says the most enjoyable parts are the Christian fellowship, the care of the staff, and the proximity to the chapel..
