James Willard Berlanger passed away at home in Charlestown on Wednesday night, March 25, 2026, with his beloved wife of 43 years by his side.
He was born on November 23, 1947, in Claremont, NH, the son of Willard and Alice (Tupper) Berlanger.
He graduated from Steven’s High School.
He and his dad operated Berlanger’s Machine shop on Highland Ave in Claremont. He took over the business after his dad passed away.
He worked at Cones in Windsor, Bryant’s in Springfield and Pike in West Lebanon.
He enjoyed the 2 Cylinder Clubs. He always enjoyed plow day.
He loved his westerns; Gunsmoke, Rifleman, Laramy, High Chaparral and Wagon Train. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
He married the love of his life, Eileen (Wilson) on November 7, 1981.
He is survived by his wife, daughter, Jeannine (Mark) Files of White River Jct., VT; granddaughter, Laura Files (Dave) of Keene; grandson, Andrew (Rachel) Files of Turner, Maine. Also brother and sister-in-law, Mick and Sheila Wilson Litchfield NH; nephews, Marc and Micah and nieces, Rebecca, Leah and Tarah; his cat, Angel and his late beloved dog, Cody.
A graveside service will be held at the Brownsville Cemetery in Brownsville, VT on May 16th at 2PM.
The family wants to thank his home care givers, especially Diane Smith and Lake Sunapee Hospice.

Roger Kenneth “Chili-Man” Whittemore, 81, of Claremont, NH, died March 23, 2026 at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH.
Roger was born on December 4, 1944 in S**o, ME, the son of the late Kenneth E. and Bertha D. (Grace) Whittemore.
Roger was raised in S**o, and Old Orchard Beach, ME, for the first eleven years of his life. He then moved with his parents to Claremont, NH, where he attended Stevens High School. Roger entered the U.S. Navy at the age of 19.
Roger served the U.S. Navy as a Photographer’s Mate, where he retired after a remarkable 22-year career. Roger served during the Vietnam and Gulf War. While in the Navy, he was credited with photographing a never before photographed USSR Warship and published in Jane’s Fighting Ships. He circumnavigated the earth, crossed the equator two times. He has visited 12 countries. Roger was known to be highly proficient for producing quality work. Roger was awarded numerous awards, and commendations from various admirals and commanding officers.
After retiring from the Navy, Roger worked as the switchboard operator for the V.A. Medical Center in White River Junction, VT, between 1998 and 2003. In 2000, on his off hours from the V.A., began his dream of starting his own manufacturer plant, “Abundant Nutrition”. As owner/founded, he formulated produced a pre-package, Gourmet, instant Chili-Mix, called; Roger’s Dead River Chili-Mix. In 2003, Roger left the V.A. to work full time at his dream. In 2004, he suffered a heart attack and was forced to close the plant in 2005.
Roger was a member of the Polish-American Citizens Club, The American Legion post 29, Men’s Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars; Fleet Reserve Association; Disabled American Veterans Chapter 20 and the AARP.
Roger was a “Big Brother” for the Big Brother, Big Sister of Western New Hampshire, where he enjoyed mentoring a young person, and honored as the “Community Big Brother of the year 2009”
Roger’s hobbies included scuba diving (Padi-Divemaster), boating, and fishing. He was a member of the following fishing organizations; New England Saltwater Fly Rodders, Stripers Forever, Federation of Fly Fishers, Coastal Conservation Association of New Hampshire, and Trout Unlimited.
Roger is survived by his brother, Ronald Whittemore and his wife, Lois of Claremont, NH, one niece and one nephew and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence Whittemore.
Visiting hours will be at the Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont on March 30, 2026 from 2 to 4 pm.
Roger will be interred, during a private service at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.

Norman Abraham Dion, lovingly known as Lefty, Dad and Pepé, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the age of 101, surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born on October 19, 1924, in Spencer, MA to Leo Dion and Esma Duteau Dion and lived in Claremont for most of his life.
Norman graduated St. Mary’s high school in 1943 then joined the US Navy and served as a Torpedo man on the USS-Haraden DD585. In 1946, he was honorably discharged and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 4 bronze stars, World War II Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal with two bronze stars.
After returning from the war, he went to work for Lambert Oil in Claremont NH, then went on to work for the Claremont Fire Department and retired in 1976 after 24 years of service. He then went on to work at LaValley building supply until retiring again in 1981.
In 1954 Norman married the love of his life, Edythe Vadney and was happily married until she passed in 2001. He then moved to Goshen to live with his daughter, Roberta and her husband Harold Roberts.
Norman was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Esma Dion, his brother Paul Dion, his wife Edythe, son Peter Vigneault and son-in law Harold Roberts.
He is survived by his daughter Roberta Roberts, daughter in law Judy Vigneault, son Dennis Vigneault and wife Susan, his daughter Sherri Cummings and husband Tom, along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
At Norman’s request, a private memorial will be held with his family.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Lake Sunapee VNA and Hospice and the Goshen Fire Department for their compassionate care and support. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his honor.
Norman was a devout Catholic, took great pride in defending his country, being a friend to everyone he met and immensely loving his family.

Virginia M. Dufresne passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2026 at the age of 77 while being surrounded by her loving family.
Virginia was born on June 30, 1948 in Lebanon, NH. She attended Richards School in Newport, NH, Claremont Jr. High and St. Mary’s High School in Claremont, NH where she graduated in 1967.
Virginia married her husband of 56 years Andre’ V. Dufresne on June 1, 1968 in Claremont, NH. She had three daughters. She worked at Dunkin Donuts, Holsum Bakery and Split Ball Bearing (Timken) where she retired after 32 years when her health began to decline.
Virginia found enjoyment in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, playing bingo and cribbage, doing crossword puzzles, going to casinos, attending conventions with the local lodges where she could travel and take in many new sights, making friends while volunteering with helping others in their many needs. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #29, a life member of the VFW Auxiliary #808 and the WOTM #629 where she held many positions over the years.
Virginia was predeceased by her parents, William H. and Marie Cummings, Sr., her husband Andre’, her brothers, William Cummings Jr., Theodore Cummings, Sr., and Henry Cummings, Sr., her sisters, Judith Cummings and JoAnn Johnson.
Virginia is survived by her daughters, Mabel Bertot (Michael) of West Warwick, RI, Kathy Webster and Mary Judd both of Claremont, NH, her grandchildren, Nicholas Bertot (Katie), Daniel Bertot (Denisse) and Rhiannon Bertot (Shawn) all of Manchester, NH, Victoria Webster (Jason) of Keene, NH, Mariah Dufresne (Keevan) of Claremont, NH and Alysha Webster (Adam) of Springfield, VT. Her great grandchildren, Allyssialyn Furtado, David Dufresne and Natiery Haley all of Claremont, NH. Her sisters, Janice Converse (Larry) of Claremont, NH and Mary Stone (Harold) of Walpole, NH, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Virginia will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at the Newport Moose Family Center #1236 in Newport, NH from 12 pm to 4 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 11 am at St. Norberts Church in Hardwick, VT with a graveside service at Fairview Cemetery. A gathering will be held following the service at the church’s reception room.

David Edwin Russell, 64, died the morning of Friday, March 20th, 2026 at his home.
He was born on March 14, 1962, in Bellows Falls, VT, the son of Dayton Russell and Doris Merrill.
David enjoyed helping people. He was always there when you needed it. He loved everyone, especially his family. Anyone that knew him would say that he was a kind soul.
He was a long-time custodian at Fall Mountain Regional School District. During his time with Fall Mountain, he wasn’t only a custodian, he was a mentor to many. He was currently working for Springfield School District.
David also enjoyed helping animals. He would stop anytime he saw an animal such as a dog wandering along the road to make sure, they got back home safely. He volunteered at River Valley Animal Protection League, some years back.
Davids other many hobbies included fishing with his friends and family and hunting. He was a connoisseur of fine ales as well.
He is survived by his sisters, Katherine (Kittie) Elliott, Martha Smith and Marianne Beauregard; his wife, Mercedes (Ashey) Russell; children, Beverly Russell and William Seamans; grandchildren, Audrey Merritt, Christian Merritt and Brooke Hutt.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dearly departed, Carol Jean Kangas, in the early hours of March 19th, 2026.
Carol, the 2nd of six Therrien children, was born on October 10, 1953, in Claremont, NH to William and Rachel Therrien. She grew up on Plains Rd. in Claremont next to the Coy Paper mill where her father worked.
She attended the Little Red Schoolhouse in West Claremont and graduated from Stevens High School in 1971.
Carol started her career as a bookkeeper at Topstone furniture on Mulberry St, but the bulk of her career was spent as a paralegal secretary for Witkus, Wilson and Weidman Law offices in Newport, NH. and then branching off and following Jon Weidman to open Connecticut Valley Title Services. She retired in 2021 after working a short stint with Hudkins Law and Title but then decided to take a part-time position at the Law Offices of Work & Clark in Newport, NH until she fell ill in January of 2026. She had an amazing work ethic and keen eye for details and will be missed dearly by all those she worked with in the local industry.
Carol had a deep love for animal rescue, which all her pets came from, and she manifested a long-time dream of having her own horses when she rescued Nikki and Eddie. It was of utmost importance in her last days to know where all her pets would end up. She was also a longtime cyclist and rode a few 50-mile Prouty bike rides to raise money for the Norris Cotton Cancer Center of Dartmouth after her first battle with a cancer diagnosis. She would also fill those years with running in local 5k’s, Harpoon being one of her favorites as she always loved a good IPA. Carol loved nature’s beauty in all its splendor, which is reflected in her paintings, photography, nature observations, and through their home and landscaping on the Cold River in South Acworth. She also had a very diverse taste in music where her shadow side could be expressed through her love of hard rock and heavy metal. She will be remembered for her uniqueness, two sh*ts attitude, ease of laughter, kindness, and her love and enjoyment for sister’s day, time with her family and friends new and old (especially the 4-legged furry ones)
Family survivors include her husband of 28 years, Richard Kangas of South Acworth, NH; daughter, Kelly Genes(Jeremy Schaefer) of Claremont, NH; daughter, Kristina (Kasey) Silver of Marlow, NH; grandchildren Devin Genes of Keene, NH; Avery, Jovie, and Gavin Silver of Marlow, NH; Sisters, Rachel (Roland) Paquette of Milford, NH; Donna (Fred) Hallock of Lyman, NH; Dianne (Gary) Swinyer of Charlestown, NH; Brothers, William (Kim) Therrien of Claremont, NH; Bruce (Helen) Therrien of Claremont, NH.

Robert “Buzz” Willey, of Charlestown, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care in Dartmouth New Hampshire. Born on December 9, 1943, in Windsor, Vermont, he was the son of Irma and Neil “Red” Willey.
Buzz attended Windsor High School, where he was a dedicated and talented athlete. He competed in downhill skiing, swim team, springboard diving, football and baseball, and was a proud member of the 1960 championship baseball team—an accomplishment he carried with pride throughout his life.
He spent his career as a skilled machine mechanic. Outside of his profession, Buzz built a life centered around community, connection, and family in Charlestown, New Hampshire, alongside his beloved wife, Laura. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and golfing—activities that brought him both relaxation and "joy".
Buzz was an avid sports fan, and had a deep passion for coaching, especially Legion Baseball. He was more than just a coach—he was a mentor, a role model, and a steady presence for countless young athletes both on and off the field. His impact extended far beyond the game, shaping lives through encouragement, guidance, and genuine care.
Known for his friendly nature, Buzz had a gift for making connections wherever he went. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and quickly turn strangers into friends. His warmth, sense of humor, and easygoing spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Buzz will be remembered for his love of sports, his dedication to mentoring others, and his ability to bring people together. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched through his kindness, coaching, and friendship.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Laura; his stepson, Cliff LaVanture and his wife, Morgan; His sister in-law Luanne and John Lariviere, Brother in-law Harold and Claire Smith, sister in-law Micki Smith. His children, son, Robert Willey Jr. his wife, Sarah, and grandchildren, Traynor and Sumner; and his daughter, Karen Schippert and grandson Koleman; his brother, Allen Willey and Sister, Annette Farnsworth; as well as an ex spouse Judith Topolski, many cousins, nieces and nephews whose lives and accomplishments he loved to follow and celebrate.
He was predeceased by his loving parents; his sisters, Virginia Smith and Joanne Noel; his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Rodney Anderson; his brother-in-law, Larry Smith; and his dearly loved daughter, Amy Caudill, whose spirit and memory lives on through her children, Calleigh Caudill and Jessica Douglas, her husband Nick and great grandchildren Charlotte and Parker.
Buzz will be deeply remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. In true Buzz fashion, may we all take a moment to strike up a conversation, share a story, and carry his warmth forward.

Ashley May Booher, 41, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, surrounded by family.

Ashley was born on June 15, 1984, in Claremont, New Hampshire, to Lisa Veilleux and Brent Creighton. After graduating from Stevens High School, she went on to receive a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of New Hampshire in 2006 and a Master of Music degree in clarinet performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in 2009. Ashley met her husband Dana, a saxophonist, when they were seated next to each other in the Indiana University Wind Ensemble in 2007. They were married in 2010 and moved to Northern Virginia the following year. Months after arriving in the Washington D.C. area, Ashley won a national audition for the bass clarinet chair in the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, launching her into a prestigious career in music. She later joined the faculties of Howard University and the University of Maryland where she taught and mentored a new generation of clarinetists. She was a highly talented musician who performed with great sensitivity and a beautiful, warm sound. She made a positive impact on many of the musicians who worked with her.

An animal lover, she adored her dogs Melody, Bell, and Crosby, and cat Calvin. She was a passionate dressage horse rider and regularly enjoyed taking Bell to the barn with her. She called this her “happy place.”

She was also a devoted mother. In 2019 Ashley and Dana adopted their daughter Clara, and in 2023 Ashley gave birth to their son Henry. She loved both children deeply and made the most of every moment she had with them. Of all the fullness in her life, being Clara and Henry’s mother brought Ashley the greatest joy, pride, and sense of purpose.

Ashley is survived by her husband of 15 years, Dana Booher; two children, Clara and Henry; mother Lisa Veilleux and father Brent Creighton; grandmother Anita Veilleux; sisters Theresa Creighton (Dylan Bladen) and Brittany Creighton; nieces Morgan Fischer, Adaleine Creighton, and Harper Bladen; and grand-nephew Bellamy Fischer and grand-niece Rinleigh Creighton.

Visiting hours will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont, NH on Saturday afternoon, March 28th from 12 to 2pm with a prayer service at 2pm. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery where she will share a plot with her beloved grandfather, Henry Veilleux, who was an integral figure in her childhood and upbringing. A celebration of life will be held in the Washington, D.C. area at a future date.

With a heavy heart we announce the passing of Martha “Marti” Collins Beagan who departed to join the Lord on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
Marti was born on September 17, 1943, in Laconia, NH to Helena and Lawrence Collins. She spent her early years living on Smith Hill Road in Franklin, NH, with her family before moving to North Charlestown, NH, in 1946.
She attended school at St. Mary’s in Claremont and graduated in 1961. Briefly attending Northeastern University in Boston, she returned to Claremont and was employed by the Joy Manufacturing Company. Later in life, she would return to her studies and earn a degree in finance from New Hampshire College.
While employed at Joy, she met and married a young engineer named Michael Beagan and together they raised two children, Alan and Julie in Claremont.
Marti was a devout Catholic who faithfully embraced strong Christian values. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Claremont where she established a lifelong and close-knit group of friends whom she enjoyed socializing with at prayer meetings, church functions, and after Mass on Sundays.
Marti had a kind, outgoing personality and made a lasting impression on anyone she interacted with. She was very family-oriented and supportive of them, enjoying reunions and participating in their activities energetically. She gave many clients sound financial advice while employed at Charter One Trust as a financial advisor before her retirement. Marti was an avid golfer and could be found on the greens of the Claremont Country Club from early spring to late fall. Her other hobbies included gardening, pets, collecting and researching genealogy, discussing history, reading, and taking in a good movie. In her younger years, she enjoyed auto racing and horseback riding.
Marti was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence Collins (1904-1984), Helena Collins (1906-1987), her husband, Michael (1929-2018), her daughter, Julie and her brother, Daniel (1934-2007)
Family survivors include a son, Alan of Brewster, MA; granddaughter, Kathryne Beagan of Saugus, MA; granddaughter, Stephanie Fromont of WA; granddaughter, Stacy Kenefic of WA; grandson, Scott Cockerell also of WA, along with 5 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Her nephews, Larry Collins of Claremont, NH, David Collins, of Claremont, NH, Daniel Collins II, of Windsor, VT, Lucas Collins, of Windsor, VT, William Johnson, of Claremont, NH, Cullen Neathawk, of Claremont, NH. Surviving nieces include, Leslie Collins of Claremont, NH Amanda Johnson of Claremont, NH Daielle Spaulding of Claremont, NH, Miriam Collins, of Windsor, VT and Penelope Collins of Windsor VT. Marti also has several cousins across New England in the Worcester, MA and Burlington, VT regions.
Your family loves and misses you Marti and we grieve your loss terribly, but will take comfort and rejoice that you have found eternal life and peace in the presence of the Lord you so faithfully served. Godspeed and safe journey, Marti.

Burial will be held at 2PM at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH next to her husband.

Joseph Henry Simoneau, born April 18, 1945, passed on after a long hard-fought battle with cancer on March 14, 2026 at 80 years young. He was predeceased by his parents, Ivan Simoneau and Leona Laforest, and by three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by one sister, Joanne Greenwood of Charlestown, NH. His daughter Heidi Butkus, his two grandchildren, Ally Simoneau and Rohan Simoneau, all of Claremont NH, and 28 nieces and nephews.
Joe had a very full life, had a fierce love for his family, and enjoyed being outdoors with nature.
Though he is remembered by most as a logger, his life also saw him doing such things a welding in the shipyards, being a carnie, working on farms and about a dozen other things in between.
He was an avid fisherman, boatsman, hunter, gardener and lover of wildlife.
Joe was the kind of man that would give you the shirt off his back. He was a treasured father, and a beloved Bumpa.

Bradley Merrill Weeks, 78, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 20, 1948, in Claremont, New Hampshire.

He grew up in Charlestown, New Hampshire; graduated from Charlestown High School, Class of 1966. Shortly, after graduating, he was drafted into the Navy, serving in the Vietnam War. After coming home, he managed several retail stores in New Hampshire. In 1971, Bradley married the love of his life, Evelyn. They resided in Derry, New Hampshire where they had their first child. Bradley continued to manage retail stores like Grants and Ames in both St. Albans and St. Johnsbury, Vermont. He began selling radio advertising at a local radio station in St. Albans, Vermont. He added to his family by having two more children. Bradley fell in love with radio and had the dream of owning his own radio station someday. So, he acted on that dream by buying WBFL (Bradley Broadcasting) and relocating the whole family to Bellows Falls, Vermont. Bradley felt at ease living closer to his mother in Charlestown, New Hampshire. He owned and managed the radio station but later decided to move on from radio. For a short time, he sold health insurance, worked for the Eagle Times, Ford Truck Company, and even managed the local Ace Hardware Store. Bradley was such an integral part of the community as everyone knew him living there. He soon accepted the position of Recreation Director for the Town of Rockingham, where he contributed his own time, dedication, skills, and resources to help build a new Recreation Center for the children and people of Bellows Falls. He made strong connections and was deeply rooted within his community. He retired shortly after but remained in Bellows Falls. After his cancer diagnosis, he decided to move back to northern Vermont to be closer to family. “A Full Circle!”

Bradley is survived by his devoted wife of over 50 years, Evelyn Weeks; his three children, Kelly Bennis and her husband, Richard of Long Island, NY; Heather Detch and her husband, Michael of Williston, Vermont; Nathan Weeks and his wife, Rachel of Plymouth, New Hampshire; six cherished grandchildren, and two sisters, Ann Pearson, and her husband, Dr. Richard Pearson of Fayetteville, NY; and Nancy Pomer of Burlington, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merrill and Ruth Weeks; and sister, Karen Scida.

Bradley will be remembered for his love of family and friends. He had a passion for the game of golf, playing whenever he got a chance. He was an active member of the Bellows Falls Country Club. He enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox play and celebrating his favorite football team winning the 2026 Super Bowl Championship, the Seattle Seahawks.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Bradley Weeks’ memory to the Bellows Falls Recreation Department, PO Box 370 Bellows Falls, Vermont 05101.

Carolyn A. Maranville passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026 at Valley Regional Hospital after a period of failing health weeks shy of her 84th birthday. Carolyn was born March 25, 1942 in Claremont, NH, the daughter of Leo Sr. and Harriet Lawrence.

Carolyn was predeceased by her husband A-J who passed in October 2025 as well as her two brothers Leo and Albert Lawrence. She is survived by her son A-J Maranville III of Claremont and daughter Julie Maranville of Arlington, Ma as well as her three beloved grandchildren Dylan, Kendall and Crew as well as many nieces and nephews.

She attended Stevens High School and graduated in 1960 and very much looked forward to her Alumni class reunions. She attended Bryant College in Providence. R.I graduating in 1964. Retuning to Claremont she worked until she was 79 for the Insurance Center formerly known as the Robert Michaud Insurance Agency which later became known as the Michaud and Sammon Insurance Center.

Carolyn was a proud grandmother and looked forward to spending time with her 3 grandchildren. They loved spending their time in NH outside getting into everything possible. She also greatly looked forward to her "Girls Nights" spending endless hours with her close friends Gloria, Irene and Arlene, the Golden Girls. She was an avid gardener and loved planting and maintaining her enormous flower gardens.

Per her family's wishes there will be no service at this time. A celebration will be held at a later date for both Carolyn and A-J Jr.
