One of these days I'm going to commit to this page. Here's a fresh batch of Cold and Sinus syrup made with agave. $25/8oz. Good for respiratory and sinus illnesses with phlegm.

If you have a pine tree (not ponderosa), it serves as a quick Vitamin C boost! Long steep a tea with a spoonful of finely chopped leaves and hot water. Sip on it throughout the day or drink half a cup at a time. It's important not to use boiling water which would release resin.

One of garlic's best benefits is as an antimicrobial herb. However, cooking will destroy the valuable allicinase. For the most impact, crush, oxidize, and consume raw.

Don't just slice it: crush, pound, & pulverize to get the enzymes going. Then allow it to rest for 10 minutes in the open air. When you're ready to take it, add honey to help it bind together and make it more palatable. An optional dash of cayenne will help bring blood circulation to your head. Spoon it in your mouth, don't chew, just swallow. Take with food, or at least a thick drink, to protect your stomach. Take a spoonful twice a day.

Use especially for respiratory tract infections. One of the antibiotic sulfur compounds will move into your lung tissue and out of your breath.

I'm making a cup of tea and thinking about the time someone rolled their eyes at my "overpriced local honey." So, now that I have this page I think it's appropriate to share some food for thought:

I once gave a lecture on adulterated honey. I took my students down the rabbit hole and showed them:

1. honey isn't regulated
2. grading is based on color and clarity, not quality
3. It is probably our most fraudulent food in the US market. (Then I went on to talk about fish)

Fraudulent honey is often ripe with illegal pharmaceutical and chemical contaminates (check out the FDA import alerts). It is also, not honey, or it barely has any actual honey in it at all (hello cheap syrups and sugars). Additionally, from a nutritional and naturalist standpoint, it has virtually ZERO pollen.

How to avoid this? Buy from local beekeepers or at least from health foods stores (better chance than your typical grocer.)

Cold & Flu season are coming! Make yourself some Fire Cider and take a teaspoon every day. There are several of these vinegar infusion recipes to find online but I suggest sticking with Rosemary Gladstar's recipe as close as you can tolerate the spicy sweet goodness 🔥 🍯:

1/2 c fresh grated ginger
1/2 c fresh grated horseradish
1 chopped onion
10 crushed or chopped fresh garlic cloves
2 chopped jalapenos
Zest of 1 lemon
1 tablespoon tumeric
2 tablespoons rosemary
Enough apple cider vinegar to cover the ingredients about 2 inches

Use wax paper or something to protect the canning lid from vinegar corrosion. Store in cool dark place 4-6 weeks
Add 1/4 c honey after straining
