It boggles my mind, sometimes, the way that we lose the accurate translation of "sayings". For instance, we know the saying, "blood is thicker than water". Unfortunately, this saying sometimes is used as a weapon by toxic family members to keep their "blood" reliant or indebted to them. But in reality, the proper verbiage for this saying is, "the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb". Which, in fact, means the exact opposite of what is used today. Imagine how many other sayings or ideas and ideals are misused, misinterpreted, and misunderstood. 🤯
