Our "I Can Cook" program is all about empowering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities with essential life skills—like preparing simple, healthy meals, practicing kitchen safety, and making confident food choices.

Recently, FCHS County Agent Luanne Fried Hughes had the opportunity to bring this program to the residents at The Residences at South College Drive, where participants rolled up their sleeves and got hands-on in the kitchen. The excitement, teamwork, and pride in what they created was incredible to see.

Programs like "I Can Cook" matter because cooking isn’t just about food—it’s about independence, confidence, and quality of life. When individuals gain the skills to prepare their own meals, they’re also building decision-making skills, self-sufficiency, and healthier habits that can last a lifetime.

In Partnership with the Volunteer Center of South Jersey we're going to be building a Collaborative Marketing Office and a Collaborative Grant Writing Office staffed by interns and supervised by professionals. These offices will help expand the capacity of all of our nonprofit partners in Gloucester County!
