"Boots on the Ground: Rooted in Breastfeeding Success, Grounded in Community Support".

The theme recognizes the inherent tradition, resilience, and health benefits of breastfeeding within Black communities. While it underscores that success is not achieved in isolation but through a network of culturally grounded care, peer support, and community-based resources that understand and center the realities of Black families.

After giving birth, it takes a woman 6 months to heal her wounds, 12 months to recover physically, 2 years to balance her hormones, and up to 5 years to rediscover her identity. ๐Ÿ’—
Relationships often face difficulties during this period of time due to lack of understanding.
Be kind and patient with moms, they are facing more challenges than you know.

Happy Black Breastfeeding Week!!

๐Ÿ–ค Black Breastfeeding Week (August 25-31) ๐Ÿ–ค

We are proud to celebrate Black Breastfeeding Week from August 25-31! This year's theme is Listen Up! Reclaiming Our Narrative & Centering Our Stories for Breastfeeding Justice.

Created in 2014 by a collective of Black leaders in the breastfeeding field, Black Breastfeeding Week addresses the high Black infant mortality rate, the lack of diversity in the lactation field, and unique cultural barriers faced by Black women. This observance shines a light on the efforts and initiatives that support breastfeeding among Black families.

Join us in uplifting and honoring the stories and experiences of Black breast/chestfeeding families, and let's continue working towards breastfeeding justice and equity.

Join us in recognizing and celebrating the unique journeys of Indigenous breast/chestfeeding families. Let's continue to support and honor the richness of Native cultures and their contributions to the health and well-being of our communities.
