Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center Responds to Minor Electrical Short; Patient Care Uninterrupted
Clarksdale, Miss. — In the early morning hours of Saturday, August 16, Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center (NWMRMC) experienced a small electrical short in an exterior service box. Within seconds, utility power to the affected equipment was automatically isolated and the hospital’s emergency generators engaged, providing continuous power to clinical areas and uninterrupted patient care.
Per protocol, the hospital’s alarm system notified the Clarksdale Fire Department, which responded quickly and ensured the area was safe. Throughout the event, the hospital remained open and all services continued operating.
As part of our proactive plan:
• A licensed electrical contractor, is scheduled to be on-site 9:00 a.m. Sunday, August 17, to complete assessment and any necessary repairs.
• Clarksdale Utilities has been notified and is on standby should support be required.
• Our facilities, quality, and leadership teams conducted follow-up rounds today to confirm normal operations across the hospital.
“Our emergency systems performed exactly as designed, and our teams and local responders worked seamlessly to keep care continuous and safe,” said Lorie Till, CEO. “We appreciate the rapid response from the Clarksdale Fire Department and the professionalism of our staff and partners.”
NWMRMC will share an update following Sunday’s assessment. At this time, no changes or interruptions to services are expected.
