Andrew Ayers Martin, MD, JD, FCAP serves as pathologist and medical laboratory director for Merit Northwest Mississippi, Bolivar Medical, North Sunflower and Tallahatchie General, MS. MidSouth Pathology, a subsidiary of Ayers Martin Enterprises, LLC, provides Anatomic and Clinical Pathology services to Northwest Regional Medical Center/Merit Northwest Mississippi in Clarksdale, North Sunflower Medical Center in Ruleville, Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland and Tallahatchie General in Charleston, Mississippi. We provide bone marrow biopsies for patients and referring doctors, done under anesthesia to maximize safety and comfort for the patients we serve. Dr. Martin graduated Emory University in Atlanta in 1980, Phi Beta Kappa, then Emory Medical School in 1984 and Duke Law School in 1988, law review on the editorial board of the Duke Law Journal. He also did an elective year at the Duke School of Health Administration, and served as assistant to Clark Havighurst, Health Law Professor, while working in the office of Risk Management at Duke Medical Center. Dr. Martin completed his Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency at Tulane/Charity Hospital in New Orleans in 1994, passing his boards in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology in the same year. He did his surgical pathology fellowship at Baylor Houston at the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas in 1995. He set up MidSouth Pathology at the King's Daughters Hospital in Greenville, Mississippi in 1994. MidSouth Pathology seeks to provide modern pathology services with immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, cytogenetics and FISH testing through collaboration and consultation with premiere reference laboratories. We collaborate regularly with Tulane in New Orleans, GenPath/Bioreference Laboratory, NephroPath in Little Rock, MD Anderson in Houston. Dr. Martin is past Chief of Staff for North Sunflower in Ruleville, and current Vice Chief of Staff for Merit Northwest Mississippi.
