This Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.

These fallen heroes came from all backgrounds but shared one mission: to serve and protect. As we enjoy the liberties they fought for, let’s take a moment to reflect, give thanks, and remember the families they left behind.

Today, we reflect with gratitude, pride, and solemn respect. Let us also keep the families of fallen service members in our hearts, recognizing their strength and the immense loss they have endured.

Join us in taking a moment of silence, sharing a story, or simply saying thank you. Their legacy will never be forgotten.

Living with diabetes doesn’t mean giving up the joy of snacking—it just means being a little more mindful about what you choose. The good news? There are plenty of tasty, nourishing options that won’t cause your blood sugar to spike.

Snacks like apple slices with almond butter, plain Greek yogurt topped with fresh berries, hard-boiled eggs, veggie sticks with hummus, or a small handful of almonds can keep you fueled throughout the day. These foods combine fiber, protein, and healthy fats to help maintain energy and promote stable blood glucose levels.

Planning ahead is key. Keep a few go-to options ready at home, work, or on the go so you're less tempted by processed or high-carb alternatives. The right snacks not only curb cravings but also support your overall wellness.

At GNS Medical, we’re here to support your journey with tips, tools, and encouragement that fit your life. Because living well with diabetes is absolutely possible—one smart snack at a time.

📊 Understanding the Tools: Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) vs. Blood Glucose Monitors (BGMs) 📊

When it comes to managing diabetes, selecting the right monitoring tool is essential for better outcomes. Here’s a quick comparison between two common options:

🌟 Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs):
Provide real-time glucose monitoring every 1–5 minutes.
Offer alerts for high or low glucose levels, helping to prevent potential issues before they arise.
Provide detailed data trends, helping patients and healthcare professionals track glucose levels over time.
Minimize the need for frequent fingersticks, making it a more convenient, proactive solution for diabetes management.

🌟 Blood Glucose Monitors (BGMs):
Ideal for quick, on-demand glucose readings.
Portable and easy to use for spot-checking glucose levels anytime, anywhere.
A cost-effective choice for those needing basic glucose monitoring.

Why CGMs Are Recommended:
While BGMs are effective for immediate, on-the-spot readings, CGMs offer continuous data, helping to identify trends and provide real-time alerts. This allows for proactive adjustments in diabetes care, making them an invaluable tool for improving A1C levels, preventing glucose swings, and enhancing overall management.
Whether you're advising patients or managing your own care, choosing the right glucose monitoring tool can make a significant difference. At GNS Medical, we're here to help guide you through the options and support you in selecting the best fit for your needs.

April 7th is World Health Day!

Managing diabetes isn’t just about what you eat, it’s about how to manage insulin needs too. Understanding carb-to-insulin ratio is a key part of keeping blood sugar in check.

Here’s are the basics:
1) Know Your Ratio: Many people start with 1 unit of insulin for every 15 grams of carbs, but this varies.
2) Count Your Carbs: Add up the carbs in your meal.
3) Do the Math: Divide your total carbs by your ratio. For example, 45 grams of carbs with a 1:15 ratio equals 3 units of insulin.

💡 Pro Tip: Everyone’s ratio might differ, so always check with a healthcare provider.

At GNS Medical, we’re here to help with supplies, advice, and support to keep diabetes management. Let’s use this month to focus on healthy choices and better control!
