Today is 🌍
At New Oakland Family Centers, we believe mental health is health — and today, we join the World Health Organization's global call out of “Mental health in humanitarian emergencies.”
Natural disasters, public health emergencies, conflict, or displacement — don’t just impact physical safety. They leave emotional and psychological scars, too. In these moments, mental health and psychosocial support aren’t optional — they are essential to stability, healing, and rebuilding.
💡 Let’s remember:
1 in 5 people in conflict-affected or crisis settings may experience a mental health condition.
Emotional distress is a normal human reaction to abnormal events. Seeking help isn’t a sign of weakness — it’s a step toward strength.
Supporting mental health must be part of every emergency response: integrated, inclusive, and community-based.
✔ What we stand for at New Oakland:
✔ A safe, compassionate space for individuals and families to be heard
✔ Access to counseling and support in times of crisis
✔ Collaborating with local partners to strengthen mental health outreach
You’re not alone — reach out.
If you or someone you care about is struggling, connect with us.
Let’s walk together toward healing.
