Question: "I am fully vaccinated. Since, at this time, it is considered safe to go to a restaurant without wearing a mask -- why are masks required to enter medical clinics and medical facilities and the staff are still wearing masks?"
Answer:" Every business can set their own policy regarding mask use. Medical facilities pose a unique situation because there are likely to be many higher risk individuals entering a medical facility, including those that may not be fully protected, even if they are vaccinated.
It is also more likely that someone sick with COVID would be going to see a medical provider than going to a restaurant. Until community levels of COVID transmission are consistently very low you can expect a mask requirement in medical facilities. "

As of June 22, 2021 the Governor will be lifting occupancy and mask restrictions.
However, our policy at North Oakland Ear, Nose & Throat Centers remains the same:
Anyone who enters any of our 3 offices MUST wear a mask that covers their mouth and nose. A face shield by itself is NOT considered adequate protection at this time.
Regardless of one's vaccination status- this policy will remain in effect until otherwise noted.
Governor Whitmer has previously noted that private businesses have the right to require mask-wearing and impose social-distancing protocols among employees and customers.

You know about the sniffles and sneezing, but there’s a lot more to it than that. As cold and flu season eventually comes to an end, we look forward to putting away the heavy sweaters and the ever-present pack of tissues. Then comes spring, with its budding trees, flowers, and weeds to make us all...

As a reminder- ALL of our offices REQUIRE the use of face masks that cover your nose and mouth while in the office .
Once in the patient room, the doctor may request that you lower your mask briefly for treatment purposes. They will let you know when it is ok to lower it and again to put it back on.
We continue to monitor our staff daily, require facial coverings for anyone entering the practice, and schedule appointments in a way that allows room for social distancing.

Dear Patients:
In an effort to minimize the risk of spreading coronavirus to the public and to those who are at high risk, we are screening patients who call for an appointment to see if they have any symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or if they may have any known exposure. Additionally, we have instituted the following policies:
*We WILL NOT be seeing patients with pending COVID-19 results in the Office.
*All patients must have a face covering.
*To allow for spacing in the office, only the patient will be allowed in the exam room unless the patient is a minor, in which case one adult will be allowed in the exam room with the minor child.
We are following the guidelines instituted by the Oakland County Health Department, which include screening and taking temperatures of all our employees on a daily basis, ensuring social distancing is maintained, increased cleaning and disinfecting of our office, and requiring both patients and employees use face coverings in the office.

"Effective immediately and until 5:00 PM on Sunday, April 5, 2020 [unless otherwise modified], pursuant to Executive Order 2020-6: i) all visitors that are not necessary for medical care+ will be denied access into Clarkston Medical Building (“CMB”), and ii) all persons wanting to enter CMB must be first undergo and pass a screen test for COVID-19 symptoms prior to being granted building access. CMB is now officially a “fever free building”; to keep all occupants at CMB safe, NO ONE WITH A FEVER IS ALLOWED IN CMB. (+Seniors and minors that need assistance are excepted.)"
