RESIDENT COUNCIL
What is a Resident Council?

A Resident Council is a group of residents who come together regularly to share ideas, concerns, and suggestions about life in the facility. It gives residents a strong voice in shaping their daily experience and ensuring their rights and preferences are respected. Our council meets independent of staff (with exception of activity director who is present to take notes).

During meetings, residents can:

Talk about activities, meals, housekeeping, and overall quality of life
Bring up concerns or suggestions for improvement
Work with staff to solve issues and create positive changes
Help plan events, programs, and community traditions
Support and encourage one another

The council promotes independence, dignity, and community—making sure residents are heard, involved, and empowered.

Our Resident Council currently meets on the 1st Monday of every month (unless rescheduled) at 2:15pm immediately following food council. All residents are invited and encouraged to attend. Residents attending the meeting pro-actively participate in improving their community and the lives of their neighbors.

One of our most popular events - The Spring Meadows Annual Winter Carnival - included ball tosses, pick-a-duck, popcorn, and snowcones. There was friendly competition and lots of laughs and camaraderie. Again, we want to thank Cindy and Jessica (and family) with Gentiva Hospice, and The Clark Family for volunteering to make this event such a great success.

"You don't just show up for a shift; you show up for your team. You are the reason our residents feel at home and the reason our culture is stronger than ever."

The team here at Spring Meadows Health and Rehabilitation pulled together so that family did not have to worry if their loved ones were being taken care of.

Supported by the tireless efforts of our administrator and maintenance director, who were picking up and dropping off for 5 days straight at all hours of the day to our ADON, team members and spouses, and the CLARKSVILLE JEEP CREW, we didn't miss a beat here! Our dietary and EVS and maintenance assistant made sure there was back-up food supplies, back up water, mattresses for the those who spent their weekend here and that emergency plans were in place if power was lost. It was a well-oiled machine.

So to EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE and support person who made sure the Spring Meadows Community would continue with their mission of keeping our elders safe and cared for - THANK YOU!

It is National Activity Professionals Week! This week, the always fabulous activities team has shown appreciation for the support we receive from other departments by treating them with popcorn and cookies!

Pictured below are three members of the Spring Meadows Activity team hosting a winter carnival, and two members of our EVS team enjoying their popcorn. All of us share a passion in helping our community alleviate loneliness, helplessness and boredom.

"You don't have to be crazy to be in this team. We'll train you!"

Celebrating our fabulous ACTIVITIES TEAM on ACTIVITY PROFESSIONAL'S DAY! The Activity Team hosted a Muffin Morning for staff. Marcie, one of our activity professionals here at Spring Meadows and Mary Anne, a member of our nursing team graciously took a moment to pose for the camera before grabbing a muffin and heading back to the floor.

Why the Activities Department Matters for Your Loved One

Our Activities Department is dedicated to making each day meaningful, engaging, and joyful for your loved one. Through personalized programs, we focus on supporting their emotional, social, cognitive, and physical well‑being.

What this means for your family member:

A sense of purpose and joy: Activities bring happiness, reduce loneliness, and help residents feel connected.

Social connection: Group events and small gatherings build friendships and create a warm community atmosphere.

Mental and physical stimulation: Crafts, music, discussions, games, and gentle exercise help keep minds and bodies active.

Person‑centered experiences: We tailor activities to each resident’s interests, history, and abilities—so they feel seen, valued, and understood.

Peace of mind for families: Knowing your loved one is engaged and supported helps you feel confident in their care.

Our goal is simple: to make every day brighter, more meaningful, and filled with opportunities to enjoy life.
